You're wasting your time. Making that connection is too difficult a task for those folks.

Any folder that's not made by Cold Steel. An overkill lock is a good thing when your fingers are at stake.

I agree about the sheer strength of the lock, *while locked open*. However, IME the danger of the Tri Ad lock is during the unlocking phase. ALWAYS pay full attention and use two hands to close a Tri Ad locking knife. It's very easy for a knife nut to become complacent when unlocking/closing knives, but it's critical to pay full attention when doing this, especially with the Tri Ad lock. They can have a tendency to slam shut if you aren't paying attention on the knife's position, your hand position, etc. Concern for one's fingers does not stop with when the blade is in the open position.

AO and auto knives due to MI laws.

Price. Honestly, anything pushing $200. My wife and I are a middle aged, middle class, two income household (no kids even) but I just can't pull the trigger on anything over $200. I'd rather spend that money elsewhere. I will probably never *realistically* own a Sebenza, Busse, or any type of custom, etc. I'd rather buy a pistol or put toward another AR build. I could be totally content with my Sage 3 for now on.

Tanto blades
Anything with Special Forces/Operator/Tier 1/Black Ops/ etc stamped on the blade/knife. I'm none of those and I don't think those folks carry $20 S&W, Mtech, etc knives. Mall ninja.
Mantis or Quartermaster knives - trying hard not to type "mall ninja" again. Oops. (Sorry if you like those, just being honest)
Pinned pivots. I'd like to be able to adjust/replace/clean parts if needed.

just cant stand warnclif style knives, not saying there are not good knives just cant bring myself to like blade shape lol

Any knives with cutting edges shortened in favour of finger choils , flippers and frame locks with G10 or CF on the non lock side. Anything else, as long as it's from a reputable manufacturer is pretty much open game.

i have to ask because i trust the members of this forum i have read watch reviews of the bg ultimate knife is it really junk or your lower end ok knife thanks trying to explain to son inlaw about this knife both good or bad or which thanks to evrryone who post about it.

- Knives from companies that have bigot owners, arrogance, etc you know the deal
- Thick knives (yes, they can be as sharp as thin knives but are more useless when slightest dullness)
- Big folders, especially overbuilt folders (I like comfort of carry)
- Art knives
- Photographing for coffee pics knives
- Coated blades

Those are the biggest criterias :)

I will not buy:

Non-locking folders.
Bright colors (besides Spyderco Salt series)
Cheap "throw away knives"
Most coated blades or handles
Anything with rough grind marks showing in the bevel
Intense recurves
Double bladed (dagger) type blades
Low grade steels (hows that for a vague answer)

Made in China/Pakistan, those general types.
I prefer American made, but if it's a particular maker or a well made traditional style that I like, I'll buy it (Kellam, Gransfors Bruks, Falkniven, for example), but I'll be honest it's been quite a few years since I bought any knives outside of the custom maker I stick with.

Cold Steel
Strider/Mickey Ray Burger
I don't hate them, but I don't think I'll ever personally buy a balisong.
Unless I end up working in a specialized field where it'd be appropriate, I don't think I'll buy any automatic (or spring assisted for that matter) knives again.
Generally I don't like slipjoints, so unless it's pretty stout - like the last one I did buy, I prefer folders that lock.
Serrated blades, haven't gotten one for years.
Chisel grinds.

I tend to avoid chisel grinds, tip down only, gadget knives, and organically shaped blades.

Also will not buy Gerber or CRKT.

Serrated blades
Anything with Bear Grylls's name on it (I respect the man, just not the junk he peddles)
Liner/Frame locks
Partial-tang fixed blades
Any knife you get for free for joining X organization (I'm looking at you, Buckmasters)
Any high-quality, high-dollar blade that is better than mine and tugs at my envy bone
