Knives you WON'T own anytime soon.

I can't believe no one here (including myself) had mentioned Frost Cutlery :barf: . Back in the good old days when I had satellite, watching their infomercial with the two rednecks (the one smarter one, and the other that had to be drunk half the time), was one of my guilty pleasures ;) .

watching that crap right now, love to laugh at that junk on the weekends -- almost got hysterical at one sales pitch for a $299 set that they proposed you buy and set up a website, put those fabulous Frost cutlery knives on it, have your coffee in the morning and discover you just made $4000! Has to be the most idiotic statement I've heard yet! now that's ENTERTAINMENT!:D

Anything too pretty to be used as a tool/weapon in the bush.
Cheap crap from places unknown
Any blade that I'd have to sell an organ for.(custom or otherwise)

Anything not made in France or Switzerland. This is NOT some kind of political statement, I just can't seem to justify carrying anything other than a SAK or an Opinel these days. (still got my eye on a Spydie Perrin Bowie tho' ;) )

I guess I won't rule out anything---case by case basis for me.

But the only things that have been catching my eye(and money) lately have been from Buck---Bark River---Becker---Leatherman---and SAK(both Vic & Wen)

And yes---fantasy knives are hideous.

I can safely say that I would never buy any...

weird blade shapes: hawkbills, karambits, kris, etc.

certain types of handles: cord wrapped handles (god I hate those), slick handles or handle shapes which would allow my hand to slip onto the blade. Handles which could be easily cut or damaged, like rubber or whatever.

safe queens

slip joints

anything that has a safety on it to keep it from opening

anything made in France

Saks-No offense to the Sak fanatics on the board but I prefer a small-med size knife with high quality steel for edc. (I keep screwdrivers and a container of plastic toothpicks in my desk & glove box:D )
Gerber-They continue to downgrade the name and the knives of a once great knife company.
Chinese Schrade
Cold Steel
Harley Davidson
Chinese Marbles
Meyerco
United
Frost
Colt
Smith & Wesson
Anything in Aus-4 or AUS-6 from CRKT
Hardcore tactical knives

Knives that cost 2 to 3 times as much for European customers as they do for US customers will remain on my not to buy anytime soon list.

NO
-Fantasy knives
-Any thing made in China or Pakistan
-Auto or Bali knives (illegal in Canada):(
-AUS 4 -6
-or anything over $200 USD (well...........we'll see :D )

Ewwwwwwwwwwwwww!! I will NOT be buying anything with a kris blade!!! Ewwwwww.

I think that's a somewhat uneducated statement, have you ever handled a blade wrapped by Kirby Lambert? They are about the surest grip you will experience.

Kirby also wraps Lightfoot's blades.

ANYTHING CHINESE,PAKISTANESE,TAIWANESE OR ANYTHING ENDING IN ESE.
GERBER:thumbdn:
FROST:thumbdn:
TACTICLES:thumbdn:
FANTASY:barf:

OK, my on topic post for this thread:

  • Daggers (thrust or double-sided)
  • Partial Serrations (nothing beyond what I already have)
  • Fantasy blades or collectors from movies
  • Anything over $150, at least until my financial situation changes (and my wife becomes more tolerant of my "habit"...:o )
  • Americanized Tantos
  • Frost Cutlery, United Cutlery, Jaguar
  • SAKs - I personally don't find them to be a useful carry, sorry SAK lovers!
  • Slipjoints - it's gotta lock.
  • 420 & 420J

Hey bro, I'm not bashing you at all.

All I'm saying is, done correctly, cord wrapped handles are hard to beat for comfort and grip.
