Knives you've seriously considered buying, but never pulled the trigger on

Emerson, Hinderer (although I must confess my first xm-18 is on its way now), Strider, Norseman, modern Case (the new era ones just seem lower quality and too mainstream to me). I always seem to gravitate back to CRK and traditionals.

late last year I did pull the trigger on a Wilson Combat starbenza 21 large but the sucker got lost in the mail some how, dam it! probably never ment to be, maybe ill find a used one on the exchange one day;)

  1. Shirogorov NeOn - My folder grail knife. Elegant EDC folder. However out of my budget at this time. Maybe some day !!

Go for it! just pushed the trigger this week for Shirogorov HatiOn Zero and I'm blown away.
Already sold Paramilitary 2 S110V and selling Strider PT Gen 3 and Small Sebenza 21 as soon as don't just need them anymore.
Shiro Neon Zero is cool and have just as large blade as Large Sebenza 21, but in a more friendly EDC, so I even considering selling Sebenza 21 as well.

Benchmade mini crooked river and 940-1. They’ve been on my wishlist forever but I think they’re way overpriced, and the QC worries me - I don’t want to have to send one back.

I just bought a Hation Zero too, just waiting for it to get here. Glad to hear some good feedback, it's been hard to find anyone else's opinion on it that has one. Please let me know what you're using as takedown bits if you aren't using the Shiro pen...I know I can use a cloth with a protected slotted head but looking for anything else that works well..not going to even risk marring this guy.

Last night I pulled the trigger on a custom Laconico EZC. I went from nice production knives to pricey mid-tech pieces to full customs in less than two years in this place.

  • Buck Vanguard in rosewood. So beautiful and feels great in the hand, but would I ever actually USE it, when I have a Mora standing by? Aside from that, I only ever find myself using a fixed blade in the kitchen or the very occasional squirrel hunting trip.
  • Spyderco Techno 2 - I just can't see why such a small expensive knife needs such thick blade stock.
  • Cold Steel Medium Voyager, clip. It was my dream knife, back in high school. Now, they're discontinued and kind of spendy for a lock-back with AUS8A...
  • Benchmade balisong. I've always want one, but they've always been much more than I wanted to pay . More serious competition is coming out. I have a Bradley that's great, and I see Kershaw has one as well, for 1/3 the price of a Benchmade
  • OTF auto - just too dear for a reliable one...

Had a Kershaw Junkyard Dog in the basket, then talked myself out of it.
A few weeks later they were OOP and nowhere to be found.

What about knives you thought about for a long time and weren't sure about but gave them a try - how did those work out for you?
For me this was the SOG SEAL Team. I initially listened to the people who said it was a LARPing knife. Now that I have one, I know it is a seriously capable and well designed knife.
Very happy with it. It looks large, but compare it side by side to a Ka Bar 1217 and they're fairly similarly matched.

SOG Tigershark (satin version with no serrations). Wish I had bought one way back when I first got into knives...hard to find now and crazy money.

On the flip side, hadn't even heard of CRK before joining here, and just bought a small Sebby off the Exchange...should be here in a couple days.

Olamic I feel it would be a beautiful paperweight because I wouldn't want to skank it up.

One lately I've been on the fence about is the Vallotton it's beautiful but I'm not a huge spydie guy + I just bought an old Hungarian so that will probably be off the table.
