Knives you've seriously considered buying, but never pulled the trigger on

One reason I’ve never bought a custom, too many choices and options

that's why I buy mostly hand mades/customs, I want my knives to be unique to me.
Nessmuk.
I look at every Nessmuk that comes up (Cahoon has a nice one!) for sale but...
Just not sure I would carry it or use it.

Well , I've pretty much narrowed it down. Maker, most likely REK! Handle scales, green canvas micarta of course and Damasteel raindrop, grossenrosen or bjorkmans twist!!! Now its just blade shape and grind!! Hopefully I can figure it out before Xmas and see if he'll do it!! We shall see!!

Had been thinking about a Fallkniven F1 or S1 for a few years, on and off. Never really felt seized by the design, and now having read a few threads on here, I'm not going to pursue one.

Any Hinderer - Half-Track is about the only one that speaks to me but I have other small quality tanks for half the price that don't get much pocket time already. Had a ZT Hinderer and didn't really do anything for me. Found the grip/blade angle weird.
Strider - Missed the boat on the Strider b/c always thought they would be around and never found the right one to try. Now I don't trust all the passed around or fake ones floating about.
Olamic - First time I see a new design from them, I'm like "This is the one".. then after a few weeks something else catches my eye. Whippersnapper is the newest one I've been eying.. then I just picked up a new CRK instead.
Spyderco Native - Had a Native FRN many years ago when they were a great value, but just felt way off in ergos for my hand. Have always been hesitant to try them out again for some reason, until two weeks ago that is.. now I have 3 N5 LWs (Rex45 and 2 S90V) and 1 N5 G10 (Rex45). The sickness. BTW these feel great in hand vs the FRN versions with the top swedge. Now just need them with compression locks. :-).

Spyderco Amalgam. I look at it multiple times a week. I just haven't bought it for whatever reason.

I think I'm concerned it will be slightly too big for an EDC. I'll probably end up buying one eventually and then I can add it to the "Buyers remorse" thread, LOL.

The ZT 0170 is one that comes to mind first for me.

It didn't go over well and a few online retailers had them for $99 when they were clearing them out.

They fetch more than I'm willing to pay now.

The other thing that keeps me from buying one is the fact that there was some convincing knockoffs on those wish/Aliwhatever sites so the odds of getting a knockoff are higher than I'm comfortable with.

I'd say these days, that most large fixed blades fit on this list for me. I love the IDEA of a large fixed blade knife, and always enjoy seeing new shapes and handle designs I know I'd love to hold, but candidly speaking, A. I've already got enough of them and B. I hardly use them when I DO carry them into the woods. So, these days when I DO buy any fixed blades, they're usually smaller EDC knives and I tend to like 4 inches or less on the blade length. Nice manageable size, lighter, that sort of thing.

For me it is the opposite. I have long since reached the point of having all of the practical knives that I may need; so I indulge in the over-the-top fixed blades. They may be niche items, but they certainly look and feel great in hand. You never know when you may have to chop down a tree with a knife, or deal with an alien predator. :)

Just discovered your post. The 275 Adamas in tan and straight edge has been on my list for ten years now. The Gerber 06 in S30V I can attest to. I have two of them, one straight edge and one serrated I got about ten years ago for $60.00. I have to say, I probably carry that in my pocket more than anything. The plunge lock and stout striking pommel are nice. However for daily work carry I have a retired Leatheman K502X straight edge with 154CM. Lately though, I've been switching to represent Idaho with an aluminum bolstered Buck 110 drop point with pocket clip that I scored from Copper and Clad (no longer available). I will eventually get that Adamas but these Buck 110's are so addictive to collect (1980-81 aluminum 111 and Ti 560 are also on my list but pricey!).

Whooaaa
My list is as long as this entire page [probably much longer]
Cheap ones, expensive, exotic, out of this World ...
But as Arnold Eastwood said
Mañana Punk !

I've had a few I owned and wished I'd given a second chance. Six years later I gave the Spyderco Southard another try. I'm glad I did, I'm in love.

I've thought about an actual Hinderer now and then but I wasn't that keen on the ZT 0561 I had, so I just never did. However the Viper/Hinderer Storm has caught my eye.

Lots before, likely far more going forward.

Honestly, I have pretty particular tastes and already have quite a few fixed blade options that I already like in pretty much every size and style I might want. For me to buy another, it would have to be something really special.

As far as folders go, I've been considering a shiro........they ostensibly have everything I want in a folder. The price is a bit steep though, so I've passed thus far.

Have to be the Cold Steel Natchez Bowie, just never got around to it. And now it's too late, the new one is 3V, and $500+.....

I always liked that Buck 124 Frontiersman because of the drop point. Also, it has a full width handle tang and the 119 is either a partial or stick tang. Buck sent me pictures of the 124 without the handle slabs and it is definitely full width tang and no material skeletonized like the Becker BK series does.

Been looking at a Hoback Kwaiback or Radford in TI for a while now. I don't own that blade profile in a folder and there's a variety of blade steels to choose from. Eventually I'll make a decision and get one.

A custom Brian Nadeau. Couldn't get past the blade steel for the price. I know it's still worth it but I'm picky about blade steel.

I can't remember the exact model but it was a Large flipper Zero Tolerance Knife by Rick Hinderer

I actually pulled trigger on a ZT0562TI some time ago when it was on sale. Did it with a dealer that I never dealt with before because it had the lowest price. Sure enough it messed up my order so I didn't get the knife. The knife has never been on sale again and at $280 it is no longer as attractive to me as a real Hinderer xm-18, which I believe I bought three since then.
