Knock-Off, Counterfeit, Fake Bucks & The Americans Who Sell Them

This is a new one on me.

HURRICANE, made in solingen Germany.
I'm sure you all know about the Japanese G96 100 series ( and 110 ) knockoffs, but I didn't know there were also 100 series knockoffs being made in Germany.

The G96 knives look decent though don't really seem to age as well as Bucks do, but the F&F on this thing does not look very good at all.

Here's another new one on me, Case Apache.

This has gotta be from the Jim Parker years, I don't see them making such a blatant ripoff of the 105 pathfinder otherwise.
Jim parker wouldn't have thought twice about it though.

It looks like the counterfeiters are now making Buck 110 Slim Selects. I haven't seen them on the auction site yet, but they are up on Temu. Some listings show knives that have Buck tang stamps while others are not stamped. Some also have the Buck name on the scales while others don't. I find it interesting that the second photo shows a Marksman box along with the 110 clone, but the Buck name was removed from the box. The real Buck 110 Slim Selects can be bought for around $30. Why would anyone pay $14 plus shipping from Temu for a counterfeit?

Because some people have no morals, integrity, dignity, or respect for this country.
They think entirely with their wallet, and will buy any cheap Chinese piece of crap as long as it looks the same.
It's the same kind of people who didn't hesitate to buy the worthless Gordon brand 119 knockoff from Harbor freight because they've " always wanted one " but were too cheap to buy a Buck 119.

I really don’t believe this should be in here??
Case on its own I am sure they had no intention of counterfeiting a Buck knife. 🤨
I believe there were a few (??) other brands that were very similar also??
John 😁

The knife is probably 40+ years old and has very little to do with Case today I would say, and I'm definitely not hating on Case who I happen to love, I just thought this would be interesting.
I know the main purpose of this thread is to discuss current counterfeits, but I think the vintage copycats have some historic interests/ relevance as well.

course this knife isn't and wasn't intended as a counterfeit, but it's definitely a pretty close copy of the Buck 105 and I've gotta assume Jim Parker was responsible.

I'll give them credit on naming the knife the Apache. Pretty sweet name!

Looking on Amazon today, all of the Bucks I glanced at looked real to me. But then they would use pictures of real bucks and send the fakes. Good thing is, Amazon doesn't like fraud very much. The bad guys will always be there and unfortunately, young or inexperienced buyers will be snookered.

The box stated the slim had a 154 cm blade, which of course it is not, so they are trying to get you to bite, if they sell in volume, they can make a profit if it goes under the wire and people aren’t using common sense. A shame they are doing that.

Anyone interested in a Buck 120? A seller on the auction site wants $119 for this monstrosity. A blind man can see this isn't a real Buck 120.

Monstrosity is a good word for it. I contacted the seller, on the off chance that they just didn't know, somehow. We shall see what happens.

I've been on the prowl for older 120 Generals. Were/are there any convincing fake 120s produced that I should be leery of?

I'm not speaking for the whole group here, there are far more experienced members here who may speak up.

In my limited experience buying from auction sites, I've seen mainly fake 110s and 119s (the more popular models). I wouldn't put it past them to try faking other models also. If you run across something that you have doubts about, post it up and let the experts help. Good luck with your search.

I have a question about a buck 110 auto. My question is simply is it legit? The packaging looks spot on. However, the auto button is literally a appropriately sized brass-like button. I ask because I am familiar with the button in the form of a small medallion. Any comments? ( it is a reputable website)

The only Buck 110 (and 112) factory autos are listed on Buck's site. There were 2 versions of each - brass + ebony + 420HC and Nickel + G10 + S30V.
If your looking at a 110 or 112 auto that doesn't look exactly like these, you're looking at a counterfeit or an aftermarket modification.

Real 110 automatics are a relatively new thing. But for a long time craftsmen would but legit 110’s and convert them to automatics. Some were better than others. So not really counterfeits but conversions. Biggest problem is Buck wont service them.

I wonder if this is what you saw?

I don't know so I called Buck and from my description they said it was a fake.
