Last Poll for the 2015 Knife!! The Shield!!

Can't seem to win on this years knife.

Wasn't too hot on the knife chosen, but the bowtie would of swayed me. I think long slim knives look best with a similar shield.

Congrats to the short-bombers, I have a feeling you guys are going to pull away

I'm wondering since, regardless of who gets across the line, there is a major split, whether it might be best to have a bomb or bowtie as an option, regardless of the outcome? Major organizational pain, but it could it otherwise be a deal-breaker for many orders?

Well now you've gone and done it, short bomb-ers...

The more I look at the short bomb and the bowtie, the more I'm happy with either. They both look good in different ways. (I voted long bomb -- not just now, several days ago -- because the symmetry matches the pattern, which I dig.)

I voted for the long bomb also. But I voted early. Had I known that it didn't have a chance, I would have changed my vote to the short bomb.

If a lot of other long bombers feel the same way and you add all the short and long bomb votes together, then there's a big preference for the bomb shield over the others.

It's an open forum with people of all different interests and tastes so you never really know how things will turn out. With Charlie at the helm guiding the way, we've ended up with some great options. I plan on buying one no matter what shield is chosen.

Even though I voted bowtie, if this ends in a dead even split between short bomb and bowtie, I'm in complete favor of going with the short bomb since there are an overwhelming number of votes for both bomb styles.

Sooo... let's see...

(1) the bomb shields haven't been used on a CSC stockman previously so this would be something new. The bowtie has already been used on a CSC stockman for another forum and it's not really original.

(2) the bomb shield fits nicely. the bowtie shield is too close to the center pin. Also typically the bowtie shield would be placed above the center pin, not to the side.

(3) short and long bombs were used on stock knives made by Schrade and would be a fitting tribute to CSC's roots. The bowtie shield was typically used by Schrade on equal end patterns, not serpentine patterns like this one

I didn't vote, but IMO the shields that are the same on both ends (numbers 3 and 4) are symmetrical in design and should be centered over the center pin to maintain symmetry. If it was centered, I'd vote #3.

Just remember it takes a gentleman to wear a bow tie and a gentleman doesn't follow the brainwashing techniques of those who wish to persuade. I don't know..... the short bomb just looks so out of place with the exposed pin showing. The bowtie centered between the two oversized rivots (leaving the pin unexposed) would make for an overall clean presentation.
