Well sir, it's thanks to all our armed forces that the majority of us can enjoy our porches wearing our bow ties :D, so in honor of the freedoms we've been awarded . . . Bombs away!!!!

Just remember it takes a gentleman to wear a bow tie and a gentleman doesn't follow the brainwashing techniques of those who wish to persuade. A gentleman stands for what is right (bow tie) and helps those who are less fortunate (bow tie). He seeks enlightenment (bow tie) and truth (bow tie). He wants to rid the world of pain often found in the after math of evil bombs and those who push evil bombs onto others. The traditional porch is full of gentlemen and ladies (bow tie) who have respect (bow tie) for each other. Never would we seek to persuade or bomb someone with evil words. We here on the porch love the bow tie, I mean the freedom to choose (bow tie) and that is why I am proud to be a part of the ladies and gentlemen of this porch. (Bow tie) :D

Even when I don't campaign the knife vibes go my way, I'll save my thanks till after the photo finish. I'll be watching this race closely as well as everyone else. Thanks Charlie, you know how to keep this suspenseful and entertaining.

Ah the patrotic card, it is a shame bombs are not a symbol of American patriotism only :D All kidding aside .. no political talk from me and respect to our troops for the freedom we share in the US.

In truth the longer pattern seems more symetrical with the bow tie imo. This race has been fun to watch and for the most part Im just having fun, though I did vote for the bow tie ;)

Too add..... it seems it would also make sense (and cents :)) if both the short bomb and bowtie were produced. Now if one or the other were losing by a landslide, such a suggestion would be obsolete. Though in this instance I think it would be fruitful.

The only thing holding one back from resembling the other is a shield. Which can easily be swapped out during manufacturing..... versus handle material, number of blades, or blade shape which would make things less plausible.

It's not a symmetrical pattern though. Although the curve is slight, it is a serpentine pattern with no symmetry and two different types of blades.

If it was a cattle knife or a boys knife, I'd have a different view. But for a stockman, I think a bomb shield is the way to go. A crest or federal shield would also work well.

Not a big deal if I buy one or not, but I probably wouldn't with the bomb. Just looks so weird and out of place to me. I've liked and voted for the knife in this configuration all the way, but I had also hoped and mentioned even back to the first thread that I wasn't a fan of the shield. I may still get one, but I'm not sure. Come one bow tie or even long bomb!

Also, a centered bow tie or no shield would be ideal. The bomb on a knife with blades at the other end also seems weird . Should be on a jack.

I can shows pages and pages of catalogs that show bomb shields on serpentine patterns. A bowtie on a serpentine pattern is more unusual.

You are welcome to do that, but I will still think it looks weird. I can show people lots of catalogs of knives that don't look good to me. Kind of a personal opinion thing I think.

Honest question though, are these pages of catalog pictures of serpentine patterns with blades on both ends? Just curious.

Lets make it a Magic knife and put one on one side and one on the other !
:)

For me, traditional knives are all about tradition. I shouldn't assume tradition is important to everyone but I sometimes make that mistake.

I thought you were talking about historical examples. Issues of personal taste are another thing altogether.

Exactly, and why it would be exceptional! ;)

Dare to be different, I guess..... :)

Not so different since I already have a CSC stockman made for another forum with a bowtie shield centered above the center pin. ;)

I think that's where I differ from a lot of people in the traditional group. I like traditional style knives, but I don't necessarily want them to copy old knives that were already made. I like old knives too, but really appreciate modern materials and designs on a traditional pattern knife. I'm also not much for carbon steel when so many better steels are available. Not saying either is right of wrong, just my preference.

You lucky son of a gun! No wonder you're being so difficult to sway. You already have the void filled for what I'm trying to acquire. Now with that being said..... it's only fair that you show me a picture of said knife to alleviate my disappointment ;).

Something about two blades on one end and one at the other would make a bomb style OK to me. Just the whole single spring, one blade each end that makes me think this needs a horizontal shield.

Any chance we could just leave the shield off of a few (and I could buy one)?

(P.S.) The oversized rivots (combined with a centered Bowtie) make the BFC Version a whole nother animal, though. :)

It's a shadow pattern based on their regular production stockman. It deserves a proper shield ...a bomb :D

Last time I looked there were still a few of the 2009 forum knives floating around on the 2ndary market. It should be easy to find, but if you don't see it then send me a PM and I'll look up the link.

I find the lack of interest in what's traditional somewhat baffling in a forum about traditional knives. I guess looking at features on a knife then becomes something like interior decorating or accessorizing.

I like that example with the bow tie a LOT! Exactly as I envisioned it!

Come on bow tie voters!
