^^^ Two are swords, one looks like a bowie to me and the rest could fall into variations of different takes on a fighting knife. Very cool assembly regardless of the labels.

Thanks Roger,
Some are mine, some are my wife's :-)
Differing points of view are at play again, to me swords are as much how a blade feels as the size up to say 20". Most swords built by knife makers that I have handled just don't feel right.
I include another snapshot with some of the same knives. Extra points for ID on the replica and the re-built item :-)
The top four are swords, no doubt. the bottom three are big knives, but the Imperial issue Kindjal is both, shading to sword by how it wants to move and be used.

Beautiful knives ladies and gentlemen

Here's one that's no frills, all business by Jerry Hossom, leather by me:

On this knife, double edged means double edged

Here is another Crossada for my buddy Crossada
James Keating/Bob Dozier A2. Blade catching guard, Hand Quillion's , Spanish Notch everything but the kitchen sink

xaman - some nice knives and you make some killer sheaths. The sheath for the Hossom is exceptional.

Peter

Charles - gorgeous work, dude.

Xaman - you got some serious leather skills.

some great examples so far, i guess my favorite "pure" fighters that arent into the Bowie catagory would be the classic Jim Siska models.... just spot on in every way.

As far as the fighting "Bowies" ive always been a big fan of John M Smith (not seen any so far) and of course Bagwell.

Here is a Smith "Inner City" one of the last he made, W2 steel with some sort of black nitride coating, Cocobola handle, Rowe Sheath. Not owned by me, but member cobrachris, i believe it was made in the late 80's early 90's-

Charles beautiful knife

Keith that Wild Bill is one of my favorite's also

Matt that Inner city is what I am talking about

Before you guy's jump all over me I know this a prouduction knife but I think it has merit so I am posting it. The Warrior is the late Michael Echanis brain child and was designed by him. A few custom makers worked on proto types but the late great Al Mar put it into prouduction. I have 2 of these and they are getting quite hard to get. I do not really care for this style of fighter seems to favor a reverse grip and in close action but Echanis had quite the reputation as a martial artist and edged weapon practioner.. But my point is here Is what two very competant men invisioned as a pure fighter. Walker thought highly enough about the blade and the men to make it his cover shot and give it a whole chapter. Everyone has a different perception of what a fighter should be. Incidentaly this is where I first read about Fisk, Bagwell, Smith and wild Bill Caldwell This book came out over 16 years ago

You want one of the black ones, Joe? I got one.:D

man, this thread is getting REALLY good. All of these grogeous knives and and some old school stuff like the Caldwell and Smith pieces!!! Seeing John Smith, Ron Gaston and Sean McWilliams knives back in the day got me excited about fighters. Some of my other faves back then were the ST24 (still a big one!!!)and some of the knives that Jim Crowell and Rob Hudson were doing. What's next?:D
