Let's see some Survival knife concepts !!!

In reality, a machete and a SAK, would be my choice, but this convexed Busse Skinny ASH-1 would do.

William - The bottom one in your fist photo - is that a Matt Roberts #2? I just got some micarta in for my blade blank. That'll be a fun project. I like the heft of it already.

Who did the one in the second shot?

Here is one I drew up before I started making.

I had Stephan Fowler make it up for me and it turned out to be a popular design for him and he has since made about a half dozen on them.

I have since changed my needs a bit and have come up with a few designs of my own.

Yes. I like that one you had Stephen make. I wanna make one. Thats cool.

I recently drew up a chopper I'm gonna make.

Bow Legged Chopper. Its gonna start as a 3" wide 1/4" thick X 15" long chunk of 5160.

This design in 3/32 1095 and I'd have the kitchen knife I've been wanting!

+1

It was cool seeing all the Siegle knives...big and small...the bigger ones made the Camp Tramp look petite.

William - thank you for the assistance!

I keep hearing about Mr. Siegle, and seeing his excellent work. Might have to look him up for an order.

I really like that one Fiddleback! I can imagine a double sheath set-up with a side pouch for an original Bow Legged Joe.

Very cool!

All the best,

- Mike

Some great designs....so what are we saying is an ideal size for a blade and what is an ideal size for a handle ? Please include thicknesses !!!!

this is my version of a survival knife! 1/4 inch thick stainless blade, cord wraped handle really comfortable grip.

Hand made from 1/4" 1075 with a 9" blade and it is 15" over all. Full tang, full flat ground. The handles are Ecuadorian Monterillo with stainless tubes. I used it before I got it completely done and it is just wild how well it chops. The next one I am grinding (tonight) will be a clip point. This one is AWESOME Doug

Yep, that looks like it will get the job done.

I like the no frills, no choil, no ricasso, and especially the grain showing in the handle.
