Lets see those Axe Collections

Thanks, Trailmaker. I have not done anything to the Flint Edge since getting it from Operator. I think it is blued though. The World's Finest is just some kind of patina that I didn't do.

I did blue the Mustad carpenters axe and the black double bit. I just followed the instructions on the bottle of bluing, which I will get the name of later when I am home. It was super easy and the results were good.

The Singles. Gerber hatchet, Council 6 pounder, Mustad carpenters axe, Kelly Perfect, Unknown Kentucky pattern (a real stunner), Kelly Perfect side hatchet, Keen Kutter hatchet (from Operator, thrown in for free with the Kelly Flint Edge jersey!), Norlund hatchet, and the two jerseys waiting for some love (a Kelly World's Finest and a Kelly Flint Edge).

I love the look of the haft on that unknown Kentucky. An unclipped fawn's foot feels best in my hand. Hard to find them around here. Your Kelly Perfect has a nice one, too. Where did you get those?

Hey Pegs, I'm right there with you on the unclipped fawn's foot. The handle on the Kentucky I got at a local feed/hardware store called D&B Supply. It's a house handle, one of the few good ones! I gave that axe to my little brother. The handle on the Kelly came with it. It was a beautiful handle with one flaw - incredibly tight grain, though perfectly oriented, I snapped it right off. Too brittle.

ETA: BTW, that Kelly is a beastly chopper...almost uncanny. I really need to rehang it...

Not nearly as impressive as some other's collections but it fits my needs.

Seems this has been the year of the axe. I have re-hung or re-furbed just about everything I have.

Nice work on that handle. I really like the GB AFA on the straight handle.
