Let's see your Becker bags

I've seen lots of Condor bags in this thread... and seriously considering purchasing one now. Which models are you guys rocking? And how are they for just day hikes? That's probably what I'll be mostly using them for. And why do they cost so much less than say Maxpeditions? Are they the Becker's of the pack world?!?!?!
Maxpedition is made of 1000 denier and that makes them way tougher and last longer...I would rather pay for a good maxpedition bag again for the 100+ price then a 400 to 500 denier flimsy and weak bag...you get what you pay for...you want quality that will last? Then get a maxpedition or a 5.11 or Kifaru or you can pay for a bag that will last you a quarter of the life of a good tough bag and have to replace it again and wish you had got a better and tougher bag.

Agree completely.

edit to add: Dude..Take some of the Maxped money and upgrade your account. Makes it easier to quote you. Its gotta be a pain in the ass to paste a sig line every single time. I fought it for a long time too, having never paid for a forum, but it's a once a year sacrifice.

Maxped is great, but far from the best. As of late, their marketing program is somewhat questionable. "tactical" playing cards?

I do wish that they would release a bigger backpack than the falcon. A 3-day bag would be awesome!

I've gone through a TON of maxped bags, loved em all, but always wished that they were bigger. My edc bag is a hazard 4 tonto and my go to backpack is my kifaru xray. VERY happy with that combo.

My Maxped Condor 2 is bigger. Its the biggest they make, a 3-day size.

sorry, I should have been more specific.

Overseas, Maxpedition is branded as "magforce". Under that name, they have a TON of different variants. Including the super falcon. That's what i want.

Yeah...would be nice if they sold that here. However, my Condor 2 holds enough stuff to almost be uncomfortably heavy.

I have nothing bad to say about the quality of the Maxpedition bags, but I think the designs just don't suit me all that well. Namely they just don't have a long enough torso length to be comfortable for me (6'2). Now on a versapack or smaller bag that doesn't really matter.

My Camelbak is 500D Cprdura vs the 1000D nylon on the Maxpedition, which is better? I dunno...... my Camelbak seems plenty durable to me. The Camelbak Tri-Zip has Mystery Ranch adjustable frame/yoke so that suits me fine.

Yeah....there is definately a "break in period" on the Maxped stuff. Pretty damn stuff at first.

Don't know much about maxped other than they're bottle carriers. I got one in a trade and because it was black and not woodsy colored I mailed it off to Captain A. While I had it I was impressed with they're construction (although overseas made). As far as they're other stuff, I've handled it and realized they're designs just don't suit me. Eventually maybe I'll pick up another couple bottle carriers. As far as packs, I've owned dozens, but Gregory, surplus and Mystery Ranch are my fave. My most recent is the 5.11 MOAB 10 , great organization. Again, overseas made, but quality.

My Kelty Redwing is what I carry for long day hikes, or maybe a 1 nighter. This pack has logged well over 100 miles on my back. It's been rained on, snowed on, run over with an ATV, got sticky with pine sap, and still cleans up like new. Can't beat Kelty for the quality or cost.

TexasTony, glad you posted this ruck. I've heard of HPG, but until now I thought they only did pouches.

HPG is fantastic . the harness system is awesome....it is a small pack for short jaunts or hikes, just to carry your basic gear with ya.
one pack I really love & prolly never trade off  ....wife tried to jack it more than once :D she loves it more so than her Camelbak & I don't blame her ;)

Same here. Looks like a decent pack and probably city-friendly, too.

Look at post #26 on Page 2 of this thread. Thats where I first saw it and made me want to buy one. Got mine for $29 at a place called gearx. Google it.

After a 3 year hiatus in oz I have more packes than you can shake a stick at.with the number of views on this thread and the constant nagging of my wife I thought about giving 1 away in a contest let me know what you guys think I don't want to over contest the forum shoot me a pm or someting

lol..actually I'm on iPhone 24/7 when I'm on blade forums..it auto adds my sig after I type..I just tap on the screen and my sig is added...but I am going to go gold ASAP. Been buying much needed gear for an expedition that will be filmed..I have been even meaning to get the bk 4 but my prioritys have been climbing toward this film project and such.

Have you tried the 5.11 bottle carriers? I bought the Maxped one for part of my kit...Nalgene SS bottle, Nesting cup, Fish Spreaders, Wetfire, Cookware. But it is just WAAAAY too overbuilt! It's heavy, it's bulky, it takes up too much space, and its ginormous on my Condor2. So I have this brand new $35 bottle holder not getting used. From the pics on Amazon. the 5.11 doesn't appear to be isulated, and doesn't have extra pockets...and is about $10 cheaper. Haven't founf anyone whose used it before though.

I will now, didn't know they made them.
