G10 reprofiled.

I would wery much appreciate it if you could download the picture again. I have ordered the HO1 and I remember that I liked especially the handle mod.

I and many others praised and liked that mod, so much did I like that one that I saved his pics just in case something like this happened (somebody else save'em too! This mod is worth remembering)

Very cool!! Thanks a lot! Do you feel that the amount of material removed had any effect to the durability of the handle? I presume it improved the comfort of the girip? Edit: so Peacent did not do a similar mod, but what are your thoughts about it?

No I didn't mod mine, fearing I'd mess it up
I think that Cold Steel's G10 handles are so tough (as proven over time) that removing that material would not be significant strength wise (in fact the 2017 hold outs, and other folders have thinner G10 scales and slimmer handles), and I'm yet to see a broken Cold Steel G10 handle after all these years.

I'd say go for it!

The finger notch seems to be the hardest part to get right, symmetrical and comfortable. It is forming and the whole thing needs some finishing touches. Still this feels even now much more comfortable than the original.

No, I will leave the blade as it is.

Nice to see I'm not the only one doing a little grinding here and there.

I like the stock blade but it is easy to loose orientation and grip the knife blade up. I haven't done it yet but just a matter of time before I bring my thumb down on the edge thinking it is the spine of the blade.

The reshaping of the blade could help prevent that scenario.

There are still some marks left by the dremel but it is almost done. This knife is in my opinion much better now. The balance is right at the finger notch, it feels amazing. I have been doing some exercices from the italian dueling knife tradition with it. The handle feels comfortable, there is enough blade presence to know where the tip is going but the knife feels lively in the hand. Sliding the hand backwards gives a good amount of slicing and chopping power. The original handle felt blocky, but not anymore. This fits like a glove. The small "pommel" it has now gives some security, but actually the clip also feels good under the palm. The clip is quite tight so I have to do something about it, also sandpaper the handle under it.

I chose this over the CS Frenzy because of the blade shape. If I turned more in to filipino technique the Frenzy should be an amazing tool, but since what I have learned is more point driven this is just right.

I also thought of getting the Frenzy but I wanted a straight, real wharncliffe. The Frenzy has a concave blade with slight curve, so in that case I'll keep my Hold Outs instead. So sad they're discontinued!

I wonder how difficult it would be to straighten the edge on the Frenzy? Anyway it's a shame if Hold Out is discontinued.
