it's pretty wild how powerful this machine is, kinda scary. The leather scraps I used are the same as what I use for making sheaths; 3 layers of 8/9oz leather. Khuk sheaths will likely be 3 layers of 10+oz leather, which is likely around the maximum I'll be able to fit. It's cool how wide a range of stitch lengths are possible, as you can see in the pic.

I think I'll mock up a shiv sheath over the weekend

How is this coming along, Lorien Lorien ?
trying to settle on a design, so lots of sketches going on. It's a surprisingly tough knife to design a sheath for, so I'm taking my time and really trying to think every aspect of it through on paper first. Trying to wrap my head around the difference that using a machine is going to make to how I approach it. Should have some time to mess around with it during the holiday break

getting to some long awaited sheath requests.

I've just totally revamped my work space, so I can lay out full sides and really dial in my cutting, take advantage of interesting marks, and minimize waste.

Are you beveling the tops of the sheaths after the fact?

Stitching looks amazing, can't believe you took to your new machine that quickly.. really looking forward to seeing them finished up for the full impact!
all the bevelling gets done before glue up
