Let's see your good old basic fixed blades, Bowie's, Stickers, etc.

Nice poniard, Jack! Another old favorite of mine, a serrated edge No. 4 from Robeson, circa 1960.

For awhile now I've wanted one of these in carbon steel which Grohmann no longer offers ( if they ever did, I know the true original D.H Russells were ).
There were Solingen made copies in carbon steel that you can find reasonably priced on eBay once in awhile, but they don't pop up that often.

I also discovered that R.Murphey actually made a copy of the CBK in carbon steel, but they are now discontinued.

When I got mine, carbon and flat grind were options from the factory, but I got what was available on the river at the time, which was during the covid lockdown, and shipping was astronomical from the factory. I doubt shipping costs are much lower now.

I talked to probably Murphy's last employee, probably about their Canadian knife. She said they had been bought by Dexter Russel, and production had been moved there, and I think she said only the Murphy oyster knife was being made. The Murphy website was there to sell off what was left of their knives.
Murphy might still be a name on a Dexter oyster knife.
I wish I'd discovered them a lot earlier.

Knives of Alaska sharpened the back of the point on this one:

Yeah I completely forgot that R.Murphey was recently bought out by Dexter Russell.
I've bought a few factory seconds from Harry J Epsteins, and recently went to look on their site to figure out exactly what trade / industry they were made for and discovered that they had been bought out by Dexter Russell and that most of the products were discontinued.

Interesting knives gents  I was looking at getting one of Grohmann's Boat Knives in carbon/flat grind some years ago, but there was nobody importing them here :( I managed without anyway :D

Leather-handled knives go back a long way in Sheffield, but most adhere to the same 'Town Pattern' designs. This one, marked 'Katar', is an exception. I like the form, but have never got round to getting a sheath made for it.

Nice!
This is an Ontario second from before the sell-out. Three letters starting with "S"; I think it was named after a spy plane. 4" blade, 4" handle.

Very interesting Jer, that looks like a really useful little knife  I remember seeing photos of the small Randall that Gary Powers carried on the U2
