Let's see your good old basic fixed blades, Bowie's, Stickers, etc.

Great knives guys!

Here is set I picked up at a garage sale. The previous owner kept them all hair-shaving sharp.

Mark of the retailer?

Yes that would be the retailer. I love to see those butcher knives with almost NO wear. Good haul!

Cutchu, I really like that Scagel hunter; who is the maker, may I ask?
I love the Scagel-inspired designs totally utilitarian, yet so classy. Simple and clean, great lines, a sight to behold, and probably feels comfy & natural in the hand
Really tugging at my wallet-strings... maybe you'd better not tell me anything more, in the interest rate my budget. ;)

Hey puukko. I will send a PM later after work about the maker. Seems like I always get reprimanded when I mention something like that. But yes, it is a great knife. At first I felt that it was a little too big for my taste, but it quickly grew on me. It is very sturdy, well made and does feel really good in the hands. You're right, it does look classy too. The color in the handle also turned out very well. Like I mentioned in my post, I will probably wind up getting another. But I would like to get one of the medium Bowies.

Oh, forgot to mention that it was very, very sharp when I got it.

Not my favourite pattern, but I picked this up for £8 ($12.50), and the O1 steel takes a great edge. Decent sheath too :)

Where the heck did you get that for £8, Jack?? must have been a boot sale, right??

No Sam, I find boot sales can be pricey for fixed-blades, everyone seems to think they belonged to Jim Bowie! :D I got it from a guy I know who runs a tool stall. He had bought a big job lot of old tools from a farmer in North Yorkshire, and the knife was in one of the boxes. I nearly missed it as someone else spotted it first, but they turned it down - for a tenner! My friend hadn't thought I'd be interested in it because he's only seen me buy folders, but then he wouldn't accept £10 from me, the most he'd let me pay was £8! :D

cccxiv, those are gorgeous! Are they Bark River knives? I cant quite make it out. :)

You made out well there. The Bushcraft folks would love it, especially in 01 steel.

Here is another one, before:

Jack, now that one was a steal!! Great for some bushcrafting down in the glade.

So here are some "before" pictures:

And then the same knife after regrinding the blade, compressing, shortening slightly and then refinishing the handle:

I do not try to make a knife to look like new, I sort of try to remove minimum material for the maximum effect.
