I also 'sand down' the sharp edges of the axis using victorinox pcket sharpener. It'stough stuff, able to wear the sharpener fast!
I've found a photo of the disassembled knife. You are right, the end of the axis can be screwed off but I'm afraid it will be tricky to do that with a normal flat screwdriver.

That knife is a beauty. I am tempted to get one for myself, except I am not sure what I would do with it.
The price is great, and I have not heard anything bad about the brand.
I just ordered a SRM 710 off ebay. I did not intend to buy it, but made an opening bid of $0.99 just to keep up with it. I won it and the postage is $8.98. I guess that $10 isn't bad for a good quality knife to give away. I have noticed that the prices for the SRM knives seems to be creeping up. They are good beater knives that are of good quality as far as the average user is concerned.

And why does this surprise you? People don't give a crap if the maker is a phony or a wannabe that lied about combat duties in service of his country or if they cut up hanging meat for effect in crappy videos neither! Where you been Rat hiding under a rock? These issues mean nothing to people at all. All they are concerned with is if they can afford it, if they like it and if it works and is of a suitable build quality to last. Most don't know anything else about the history or care to ask about that when buying a knife.
Doesn't make a bit of diff if the guy selling them made them himself, had them cut out for him by some service and hired a blade grinding service to do his blades or if the guy selling them is an x con or anything else. So I guess you better kick off your Chinese made clothing and shoes and get with the program or streak naked since you can't hardly be wearing something thats not made in China and if you do happen to have all USA made clothes count yourself in the minority. You're still typing your complaint on a China made keyboard so save your energy man! Thats my suggestion to you. Really. This thread is going just fine without you or comments like these so take these comments and scram if you can't handle the topic or join in by contributing something worth hearing.
Oh and I want to add this for you as a reminder of something that was said to you the other day before you come in here with comments like these again. I think you know who said this to you. Take it to heart.

Very well then I'll have to ask you to stop buying all Benchmades,CRKTs,Gerbers,Spydercos,Bucks,SOGs,Foxs,Kershaws,Uzis and Colts (knives) because all the companies give money to Sanrenmu and Enlan,I'm not saying anything bad about these companies but if you buy knives from them your money will eventually go to the companies SRM,Navy and Enlan because they pay them to make their "entry level knives"

I'm aware that there are a few that care Frank. But generally speaking the vast majority of the people don't care enough to allow it to stop them from making a purchase if they like the item and how can anyone honestly condemn someone for buying a Chinese knife when they are sitting on small stock pile of China products in their own house? I mean everything from undergarments to optical frames and lenses is made in China these days. You folks just can't do anything but dirty up a thread to keep beating this to death in threads every time one of the guys amazed at the quality of some of these little inexpensive knives decides to show it off!

It is plain that some here despise Chinese products, or at least knives.
The less expensive Chinese made knives help some get good knives at a price they can afford or are willing to pay. Having gotten along well with Bucks, Case, and various relatively inexpensive traditional folders and fixed blades I have seen no additional capability that a $300 knife would provide me.
I am not sure why I watched a video that compared a small Sebenza and a SMR 721, which it called a poor man Sebenza. Out of curiosity I bought a 721. When I visited another forum I asked about the Chinese knives, and found that there were some who were vehement in their hate of Chinese products, and not sure but what that included those who purchase them.
They seemed to think that my purchase of a SMR 721 was taking profits and food away from the mouths of CRK. In fact it doesn't in my case. I would not pay the price for a CRK under any circumstances. I also do not think such a knife is very useful for me. I see very little practical use in my own lifestyle. I have purchased a couple of SMR 721s to give away to friends who might find such a knife useful or to satisfy their own curiosity. Fot me I prefer a SAK, and if I had to keep and use it I would prefer the SAK to a "genuine" Sebenza.
I also bought a RAT 1, Kershaw OSO Sweet, a Kershaw Whirlwind, and about a dozen Chinese pocket traditional folders. I like them all, and really am not concerned what the China haters think about it. I had not been familiar with the tac type knives and find some interest in them.
I have no quarrel with anyone who just desires what they consider the best and can afford it. For me it would be poor stewardship to spend money on expensive knives that offer me nothing more than knives I have used for many years.
What is sad to me is the rudeness, and insulting remarks such folks make. It takes away from the helpfulness of the forum, and shows a high degree of immaturity and understanding of the real world. I am somewhat surprised that the owner and mods of the forums tolerate such conduct.

"Made in China" is one thing. "Ripped off by an unscrupulous company with no respect for intellectual property, lawful copyrights, and lawful patents" is another. It has nothing to do with the country of origin; I'd feel the same way if it was an American company ripping off another (*cough* Cold Steel *cough*). I don't give a tinker's cuss how good these knives are or how good a value they are, they are ripoffs, knockoffs, and counterfiets. Anybody who does this, and anybody who supports them are dirt in my opinion. And I don't give an airborne rodent's rectum that SRM makes knives under contract for Spyderco and others. That in no way excludes, justifies, or entitles them to these underhanded business practices. I used to have respect for you because of the mod work you do on knives. I still respect your skills, but a person, you have lost all of my respect.

You, shecky, STR, beta464, IGotStabbed, sh00ter01, brets-ftw, and the rest of ya'll are the ones who are rude and insulting, and I'm surprised that the owners and mods of the forums tolerate your conduct. People like Sal Glesser, Thomas W, and Chris Reeve take their time to interact with the people of this forum and have contributed more to the knife industry and community than any of us can possibly fathom, while SRM and their ilk only steal and contribute nothing. Every time you post a ripoff of one of their knives, it's a slap in the face to Sal, Thomas, and Chris, and others. And to top it off ya'll are even saying which companies and knives that are being ripped off. We're rude in and insulting? You're beyond that. You're farting in their faces while teabagging them. The reason why people like knarfeng, Rat, and myself can't leave threads like these alone is because you're pissing in the face of people and companies that made the knife world what it is today. If I bought a $20 Fauxlex from a trenchcoat wearing guy on a street corner then went to a Rolex forum, posting pictures and bragging about my new watch, I'd get banned for trolling. And as far as I'm concerned, that's what the lot of you are doing. Trolling. Flaunting your ripoff, knockoff, counterfeit crap in the face of the hard working, giving, honorable men who got ripped off, knocked off, and counterfeited. You're all trolls.
