Let's see your Scout/Camp knives

A while back, I lost a small collection (5) of Scouts/Camps in the mail. mostly Schrades.
Whining and weeping brought me a few kind offers, which I was not seeking, but was very grateful to have! Now another friend has found one for me to spend the final insurance money on!
Schrade Walden, undoubtedly built on Schrade Cut Co tooling, just after WWII.
Except for some blade rub, it looks like it was built yesterday!
Not as homey and delightful as a well patina-ed example, but spectacular in its own right!!

Hope you enjoy the knife, and the bead I made while learning to do lampwork!
Thank you my friend - you know who you are!!!!

Wow! North Shore......thats a really nice Knife right there my friend - great to see!

Nice one Paul, What a Beauty! Great score!.....There's something about Ulster!..perhaps the fact they made unbelievably great Knives! Thats one of them!

EDIT: Charlie!!! I just saw your last post with that STUNNING Schrade...Oh man!!...that is a spectacular Knife my friend, Part of me wants to ask you what you had lost in the way of Scouts- part of me doesnt want you to answer- as it's painful...and knowing what type of knives you manage to get- the loss is gutting!!

i still feel to this day a Mint HJ from our friend Mike that I bought off him, a Clauss Spear Point HJ that was like the day it was made- ...it never made it to me...to this day I still feel remorse, so thats probably a fifth of what you are feeling my friend.:( mmm Sportsman on the Shield- I like that...great work on that Bead too :thumbsup:

Here's a Remington Scout, RS 3333 I have in my EDC, Like Pauls the Storage wasnt so hot- what may look like rust is a Heavy Patina Stain, and not deep but light Grinding marks on the main- what a shame- whoever took the sander to this knife trying to do the edge- had a Fully Bladed Beautiful Remington with full etch - it was a big dollar Knife- now with these issues I can justify using this example in my edc - where as I have other Remingtons- one in particular very nice cond. that I would feel too guilty to use!
This Knife Sharpens to a Scalpel edge, I like silly little things like the Remington stamping so fine on the Two Piece can Opener, tiny wee finish lines on the Bail etc. The etch is Full but disguised a wee bit under the Patina so is quite hard to Photograph - Beautiful knives these..( I apologise in advance for very quick inside yukky cell phone photo's - these photos actually make the knife look very ordinary - and quite plain- in the hand ...this is a real nice Knife! )

Sorry about that missing HJ, Duncan!!:( I of course, know a bit of how you feel.
The Scouts that went missing were select examples sent to GEC to study for future productions. They went missing on the return trip. How anyone could enjoy them, knowing the bad karma they would carry is beyond me!!
It must be very enjoyable to tote that Remington around, Duncan! It is indeed a beautiful knife!
And it's always a pleasure to use a fine vintage knife!!
Personally, as well as one in my pocket, they put a spring in my step!!:D

Just some beautiful Eye Candy my friend !!!
Harry

Just got this one today after watching it go down in price for 2 years . I finally made an offer on it . I don't appreciate that somebody buffed or polished it , but The price was good . I do need some help in finding who made it . The Tang only says Made In U.S.A. . Any help is appreciated Buzzbait Buzzbait , Duncan , and Charlie . Someday it will go to a Great Grandson I guess . The little Boker in the picture is just to get the reflections reduced from indoor lighting . It still needs some cleaning and oiling done to smooth it out , but it is still a solid knife .

It looks like a WW2-era Kingston engineers knife to me. The blade has been worn down a bit, as mint Kingstons have absurdly wide blades for their era, in comparison to the common Camillus models. It also looks like the shape of the cap lifter/screwdriver has been worked. The awl may have also been reworked in order to straighten out the edge. But oh that bone!!!! It's in that perfect state of pocket worn, but still with lots of texture. The bone is perfection. That knife still has plenty of years of good use ahead of it.

Thank you Buzz . I thought that it was a Kingston based on one of your older post , but I feel much better hearing it from you first hand . I appreciate your your kind words on the bone too .

The red Schrade speaks to my heart

Thanks Gevonovich! The red Schrade Walden is the only one like it that I've seen in my searches and certainly the only one with a ”church key" style "beverage can opener" LoL Goes to show it was maufactured before pull tabs :)

Kudos to everyone's pics on this thread!

Since the tang stamp states only "MADE IN USA", it is a Kingston knife. In 1942, Imperial and Ulster formed Kingston Cutlery Company in Kingston, NY so they could make even more knives for military contracts.

Be careful with the can opener button as that's a weak point.
