Let's see your Shadetree

Sorry gents, but I never get good lighting for pics at the time when I get home from work. These will have to do!

Hey Jon,

Your lighting is just fine. Very nice group that you have there. I really like your Sneaky Pete. It looks ready for "serious business" if you get my drift.

Here is an old pic of some knives I regretfully don't have anymore. I love shadetree burlap!

HWF,

Those are some real classics there with bolsters. Is that Electric Orange on the Recluse?

I am sorry to hear that you don't have these any more. Thanks for posting the photo.

Phil

Yes that is electric orange. Real nice too. All of those are such great blades. :)

This thread makes me happy.

Thanks Phil.

I'm really digging it too. It came in the KSF bonanza from last week. Thats the "Beefy" Bushfinger I picked up from you. I really love that handle.

Hey Hugh. Love seeing these. Your burlap collection is one of the things that got me interested in Shadetree. The bolsters with the burlap is a great combo.

Those are some very nice knives gentlemen. I love the feel of the shadetree burlap!!

Thank you, Nathan. That burlap is something else. And I really enjoy how it wears over time. It gets to be like a super fine grained sand and you get a really great grip.

Hiking Buddy With Some Bonafide Pants , Cofeebag Burlap over natural canvas with a blue g10 pinstripe, SFT Tang, Convex on 1/8” thick Fiddltextured CPM 154

That's a sweet HB CF. The blue pinstripe is a nice touch. One of these days I'll have a CPM 154.

Since Shadetree burlap is my favorite handle material, this thread is due for a bump.

I have done a little buying, selling, and trading since my prior post in this thread. Here are some fresh photos of my current Shadetree collection.

Thanks for looking.

Phil

Very nice bump Phil. Such a cool collection. Each one of them could be commented on. The Leuku - I gotta have one. The Camp knife - wow that's a lot of burlap! The Bushcrafters - a couple of the finest ones I've seen. etc. etc.

Not as cool as Phil's ;) but here's my little shade tree collection. Seems to be missing a red bushcrafter (ahem). Also of note the camp & karda were the dirtiest a few days ago due to a multi day adventure in GW National forest, I was able to get 'em back to like new in 30 min...I swear I'm working on that home spa tutorial :D

You guys are killing me with the Camp Knives. I'm waiting for the Spa Tutorial...

Sorry gents, but I never get good lighting for pics at the time when I get home from work. These will have to do!

Those pics look great to me. Very fine collection. I'd love to add the Bushboot and SP to my collection - those are a couple I'm missing.

Thanks for the group photos fod. It is interesting to see the range of colors and materials that you have produced over the years. I think my favorite material in the top photo is the brown and green mix on the knife that is two places to the right of your 3-color Kephart. What material is that and are you still making it?

On the last two Fridays, we have seen the some examples of your herringbone colors (a.k.a. - "professor in a blender") on a couple knives. Have you decided on what new colors and/or materials you are going to extract from the mines this year?

I am happy for you that the popularity of your products just keeps growing. Your burlaps are practical and beautiful at the same time.

Thanks,

Phil

Thanks for the good words Phil.

The material you are asking about is a yarn composite. We don't make a lot of fiber/ yarn based stuff even though it was some of the original concept stuff we started with. I'll see if I can't dig up some other pics of that and some similar things.

We've hit three veins of herringbone in the mines black, red and green. Andy has ordered some of each color.

We are always looking for new stuff and experimenting. Lately we've been playing with casting resins. So perhaps you may see some shadetree pinecone or something else cool soon.

Nice! I really like the pine cones, gumballs, and cactus that that other company makes. In particular the cactus; something like that would be awesome. I'm sure whatever you all come up with will look great.

My latest Shadetree. Wanted to post a close-up of the Grass Green Herringbone for anyone interested. This knife is pure awesomeness, and so is this Shadetree material.

Kirkwood!
Stunning is the first word that comes to mind. That thing is beautiful, if you happen to get by this way sometime, bring it by for show & tell:D

Kirkwood:

That is one great looking camp knife.....but then again you already new that didn't you. The thread structure and color variation in the new herringbone handle is simply awesome. Can't wait to see the new colors be introduced as well. Also diggin Bud's leatherwork.

Thanks Kevin. I'll give you a heads up and bring it along if I get out your way.

Thanks Peter. You know I actually wasn't sure about the handle material based on the pic in the Fiddleback Friday post. But man does it pop in person. I'd like to see some more pics of the other "professor in a blender" material they introduced.

Thanks Will. I've been consumed by work and kids lately. But that needs to happen soon!

Beautiful!
Thanks man!
