Lets talk GEC!

That is a fantastic looking knife!

One that I am really in love with right now is the paring knife..... boring, I know. The 420HC has pleasantly surprised me. It's kept a razor edge for quite a while.

I have really been wanting one of these but the blade steel used is what has kept me from buying. Wish I could get one with 1095 or at least the 440C.

I wish I would have had the foresight to pre-order one in saw cut tan. I do have a red and ebony on pre-order though.

I'm in the same exact boat. Ordered a blackwood and old red sawcut but really wishing i would have also gotten a clip with the old tan.

I've been very skeptical of 420HC myself. I'm pretty impressed with it on this knife though. It's kept a razor edge for a fair amount of cutting. Of course, 1095 would be my preference, but overall, it's a really nice knife.

I ordered two reds.... one with clip and one with sheepfoot. Wishing I got one in every flavor but I can't afford it!

The Mako is not to my taste at all, would prefer the similar Ben Hogan if getting a very long slim knife.

However, credit to GEC for offering something out of the ordinary and not only this, the workmanship looks really first-rate on this pattern and that's pleasing for any knife enthusiast. The American Elk looks particularly well on the frame I feel.

The 77 doesn't spark me either, so it's a calm time which is good as cash is sparse this part of year. What does interest (obsess...) me is the in the pipeline Whittler, the wait is really getting to me, could be a sensational knife:D

Regards, Will

I'm coming to grips with the fact that I'm never going to own a GEC 15 Crown Lifter or Radio Jack, because they sell in seconds in the classifieds.

really interest me. I've been needing a new fish knife, and these are the nicest ones I've ever seen. I want to see the micarta before deciding for sure, but I've had my eye on the new burnt orange one and that's probably the one I'll choose.

I like the fact that the knife will be in stainless, and have that gorgeous acorn shield. This knife would be a good collectible, but this is going directly into my tackle box with my lures.

Anyone else like the new fish knives?

I really like them too, and I was eyeballing that burnt orange as well. But I cannot honestly think of the last time I used a fish scaler. Filleting them is all I do anymore. So the only thing that would see any use on the second blade is the beer opener!

One of my favorite things about the 2013 forum knife was the extra bit of spring on the secondary blade to fill the liner gap. I'd like to see this on more patterns in the future, #13 or others!

Is the #13 the 2013 forum knife 'congress jack'? I would love to see one of those.... missed one on the exchange the other day.

I'm liking these as well. I was going to pick up a jigged Blackwater bone covered single blade, but then KSF sent me the newsletter announcing the blue camel bone 63s, and it was all over. Now this one is in 1095 so I guess I'm going to have to baby it or it's going to rust pretty quickly. No trips to Long Island Sound for this one, I'm afraid.

I didn't even know GEC was coming out with a version on the 63 pattern with a descaler/disgorger. Though I never use a scaler, and use hemostats for hook removal, it's a cool implement to have on a fish knife, and it does have the cap lifter. And if it it's in stainless, well I really do NEED a stainless fish knife ...

I believe that is the new fish scale acrylic. I think it should be going on today, according to the GEC website.

Does anyone know if this is what GEC is calling "Fish Scale Acrylic"?

That is the new Fish Scale Jigged Acrylic. It shipped from Titusville to Distributors yesterday. There will also be Textured Maroon Micarta and Burnt Orange Hunter Bone handle options.

Is this the first time they've jigged acrylic?
