Lets talk GEC!

Anyone else feel like you can’t own one of those yellow Texas rose variants because you’ve never stepped foot inside of Texas?

Yeah, but they're not actually MADE in Texas :D

Does Tex-Mex count?;) Or I looked at a load of episodes of Dallas decades ago?:D:cool:

Devil's Advocate here as I'm in agreement with @Spydergirl88 :D don't really feel much for that shield :)

We got a decent amount of ice, so I'm working from home and bumming around outside with the fam.

That’s one thing I do not miss about winter in the south, the freezing rain that turns into an inch thick sheet of clear ice on everything. Give me lots of snow and frigid temps any day! :D

Excellent looking group… but you need some color! ;) :D

I’m sure I’ve shared this before (maybe even in this thread), but here’s my first GEC group shot, from November 2015.

Well I look forward to the GEC Connecticut tribute knife...
... not because I'm excited for what it will be, but rather out of shear curiosity for what they'd latch onto that's quintessentially "Connecticut".

That would be an interesting gimmick for GEC to pursue, ala the state quarters. I can think of some really interesting pieces that might come from that sort of a project.

scratching my head and can only think of the famous Bridgeport Machines, once made in Bridgeport Connecticut that would fit well in the a corner of the GEC shop mounted on a pedestal for posterity

Will GEC ever do another scratted bone (or scratted wood) like they did on those ancient TCs? It is so cool, it doesn't seem like it would be that complicated (maybe I'm wrong?) and it has only occurred (as far as I know) on that one knife.

Even better than scratted would be checkered wood, like Evan Nicolaides's!

Yes, I would take the snow any day of the week.... Which is good, because we are supposed to get a good amount three days next week. Also, that's a heck of a group shot even if you never got another GEC since 2015!

I'm all caught up on my reading, thanks. I read this forum and this thread in particular every single day.

And lately it has been littered with newcomers who can't seem to get it thru their heads that this isn't the place to talk about the buying process, and to just generally bitch about how GEC goes about their business. There is an appropriate forum for that and this isn't it. So I guess I am getting a little sick of putting up with that all the time.

Why do you think a forum knife is unlikely from GEC? Who have you talked to?

I mean, we're just talking here right? No harm in a little harmless speculation, right, since this is a forum where people present their thoughts.

Oh, and @Modoc ED , if you think a Buck would make a good forum knife, cruise right on over to the Buck forum and start a thread on it, instead of obviously trolling this GEC specific thread.

I’d suggest a mod change the title of this thread to “Let’s Talk GEC - Models and Photos”.

I found myself taking part in pricing and availability discussions as the title implies that’s permissible. Changing the title may help.

Why are you quoting me? If you want to suggest something to a mod, go for it.

The rules of this subforum are clear and have been mentioned many times.

This is from the rules for the entire Traditional Forum:

"We want the forum to focus upon the discussion of traditional knives...not the purchasing process, prices nor vendors and their websites."

The rules can be found here:
Guidelines For The "Traditional Folders & Fixed Blades" Sub-Forum

This has my interest. I was born in Bridgeport. The original “Northfield” knives were from Northfield, CT.
