The manufacturer may consider letting the blade snap closed to be not a normal closing method. The manufacturer may suggest lowering your blade closed for safety. If you have an 85 coming and plan on keeping it as a collectible be aware that the majority of all prior runs had blade rap. A dent or notch on about the middle of the sharpened part of the knife if allowed to close normally. There's a lot of info about it in this forum. Personally I feel like this is a good thing as GEC is packing as much blade as possible, but for those that collect these it can be upsetting when it first arrives and you want to hear that bear trap snap closed and find dents in the blade. Maybe none will have it this time, I hope all have it because that would tell me GEC is continuing on business as usual and stuffing the blade well with as much fat spear as possible. My user 85's sharpened out the blade rap notch with one simple sharpening. It's amazing to me that they can cut it that close.
