Lets talk GEC!

True, but by the time you pay GEC retail prices, and then add the cost of the modification, I'd be up to about the same price as a full custom... and that's out of my league.

Thats true, the amount of money ive sank into getting GEC's modified 😂 I still dont learn. shouldve just put it towards a custom. yet here i am  i always say to myself after receiving my modded knife back, this is it, its too expensive to keep doing this.

Jiki Jiki I was asleep on the job and didn’t refresh fast enough. I’m glad to see the update though. I like the looks of it.

Every time you feel the urge to get something modified, send it to me instead Jack.

I hope GEC was not flooded or damaged in the recent storms to hit the Northeast United States. Does anyone know if they were flooded out and have ceased operations due to the storms and tornados?

I love the shield… but will probably pass on the knife as I don’t care for bareheaded jacks nearly as much as those with end caps. And this thing will be a big handful indeed with the sheepsfoot. I have a 2 blade 86 from the earlier run and it’s a big boy already.

My first thought was that looks awesome! But then looking at the pics I think the pen would be very uncomfortable to use because the sheep sits so high when closed. Makes it a pass for me, sadly.
Good point. I usually prefer two bladed Jacks, but it's best when the main blade sits comfortably low..

There you go, r8shell r8shell gives you the blueprint right there. Lower the kick and add an EO notch. Good to go. I think I will leave mine standard though.

I’ve been wanting one of those. I’d like to hear your thoughts on it. Nice score in the GAW!!
I'm impressed with it. One of the best of the 13 stockman I have access to. (Not that there is anything "wrong" with the others ... 'cept maybe the stain less steel blades. I just like carbon steel bester.)
I like the size. To me it isn't "too big" or "too small". (neither is a 4 5/8 inch vintage Old Timer 858, one of my other stockmans.)
I don't know if it is a fluke, or if GEC gave up on the "beartrap"/"Nail Buster" pulls I read here on BF they had. The pull on all three blades is a "5", "which makes it even better", IMHO.

Judging from the edge retention of my 852211P, Harness Jack, it should hold an edge just fine ... at least for what I use a knife for. (Whittlin', food prep, sharpen a pencil ... I don't think I'll be peeling any critters or cleaning any fish again ... but the 1095 blades I used for that held up just fine. I've no reason to think GEC's 1095 isn't as good as Schrade and pre-Coleman Western's was/is.)

As I said in a couple other threads I'm probably going to carry this for at least the rest of September. :) A "Safe King" it isn't. Too nice to sit around and collect dust. (besides, collecting dust has got to be boring ... unless it is the interplanitary or Interglactic dust, perhaps ...)

I don't know yet how prone to a patina it is yet. I should ask the staffette for a orange, or a banana or something, and see if I can get a patina started ...
