Lets talk GEC!

Looking back through that thread, it seems like it may have turned a little negative….
One thing I remember a few people doing with their buttons was turning them into magnets. That always had a bit of appeal to me. Haven’t tried it yet, though…
That’s a different idea. I’ll hopefully have time soon to look through it

No bails on the white owls, so they’re a pass for me. A red micarta H10 on the other hand is exciting.
I was kinda excited about the bail but it’s probably one of those things that looks cool on the knife but in practice can be a little annoying, Thats been my exp with the beerscout and other bailed knives I have anyway.

I think it makes it “different” or something. Otherwise it’s not a whole lot different than a 33 for example. I took the bail off my beer scout, but I like it on my navy knife.

I agree. On a small knife like this I don't have a use for the bail. but it does look cool.

Quick question: if used for everyday tasks, does the etch/print stay longer on stainless knives than on carbon knives?

I’d say longer on the stainless because the developing patina on carbon covers it pretty quick but no personal exp so talking out my butt a bit

Ah ok, so it's like stag and all of its various names.
No, stag has definitions for the names, as Mike has explained.

Burnt Stag - bought in slabs and torched to enhance the color.
Natural Stag - bought in slabs, but nice enough to cause them not to torch.
Genuine Stag - bought in full horn format and cut by the factor for optimal stag show.

It was a guess on my end. Soup bone is a rather recent name, I believe, for the leftover, previously undesirable, bone with marrow channels.
Now you find “soup bone” on rare and desirable knives.
I purchased an Autumn Gold Marrow Bone h10 from a dealer months after they were released last time. The current soup bone h10s on the gec site look pretty similar, but I guess we’ll see…

Beautiful knives folks. Thanks for posting. I have been away for some time. So busy with all of the building going on in Texas and we got a cabin in the woods in NW PA. Only 20 minutes from the factory. Lake and river are very close and there is a stream on the property. GEC has been putting out some very fine stuff lately. Nice to see things hopefully getting back to somewhat normal. Counting down the months to retirement. Be well.
