what where when
They are still available. 2022 model. The GEC is the 2023.I wonder what happened with that supposed-to-be-next-Remington bad looking Barlow from Bear&Son? Was that a prototype which was discarded due to the low quality or something?
Wow that’s nice!
Pretty close. Maybe 5 inches?

How many people have picked up a copy of the GEC book? I’m a history nerd and love to research stuff, so when I realized there was a book on GEC, I searched it out. Wowzers! The book (assuming OOP) cost more than a GEC knife on the secondhand market.
I did some searching on the forum and it sounds like you may be able to buy the book if you visit them?
I’ve asked my Dad if he was interested in meeting up at the GEC factory/store sometime this year and sounds like he is game for it. Am pretty psyched about the possibility of visiting the mother ship. If I can buy the book and a few knives at cost, that will be worth the seven hour drive for me.
When are they going to sell them?Tang stamp says 2022 though.

I have a copy that I overpaid for when my will was particularly weakIf there's a particular page or two you wanted for research let me know and I'll take a blurry, low-quality phone picture for you.
I remember seeing the 47 Nitebrite model and at the time wondered who would want a pruner... turns out it was me all along. I stumbled on to a Case Bose Pruner and the 47 Harvester looks good in much the same fashion.
Still, if it was initially planned as a 2023 model I guess it would be saying 2023. Pruner and cotton sampler were made 2022, but tangs say 23. Double paradox, right? When are they going to sell them?

You should call the GEC Store. They might have boxes of the GEC book still available. A few years ago the book was very inexpensive from the store. In fact, one year just a few years ago at a summer Rendezvous they were giving them away when you bought two knives. How many people have picked up a copy of the GEC book? Well, I sure hope that they will be. Especially if the price is $200+. As I recall the last GEC Remingtons were beautiful but pricey.Really excited for these new Remingtons! I was wondering a few months ago if GEC would ever make a Remington with a silver shield.
The covers on these granddaddy Barlow's look really nice, and I'm curious to know if these are actually pinned as well, what do you guys think?![]()
I'm a big fan of these Remington's and use my baby bullet trapper every day.
Heh, you're definitely among friends here, welcome.Thank you for the offer! Though I’m so green to GEC, that I don’t really know what I want to research yet.
It’s funny you mention being particularly weak and overpaying, b/c I almost considered the book since I still have some Amazon gift cards from Xmas sitting in my account. I did consider it for a moment. Good thing it wasn’t cocktail hour or it might have been all over.
I did however, order the book by the same author called Tidioute: A Town With an Edge. Really looking forward to that arriving Sat.
And as far as the 47 goes, I had kind of scoffed at the Plum Jigged Bone Viper for a couple weeks recently. But also couldn’t get it out of my head. I have one arriving tomorrow that I paid a bit too much for.![]()
Hate to say it, but these are a knife I've wanted from them for some time, so price for me is going to be secondary in consideration. I just hope to score one!Well, I sure hope that they will be. Especially if the price is $200+. As I recall the last GEC Remingtons were beautiful but pricey.![]()

Thanks Jo. Seeing as I have the real McCoy of this knife, I'm not sure I'll need this one. If they produce 5,000 again, I predict they'll be out there for awhile. Depending on price and availability, that will give me time to decide. Looks really nice though.licensing partnership between Remington and Smoky Mountain Knife Works (SMKW) again?
maybe we will see 5000 pieces again, distributed by all? known GEC dealers?
