I am very happy with the online dealers that I order from, but I have seen GEC in some brick and mortar stores that didn't carry it before. Good to see.
The BladeForums.com 2024 Traditional Knife is ready to order! See this thread for details:
https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/bladeforums-2024-traditional-knife.2003187/
Price is $300 $250 ea (shipped within CONUS). If you live outside the US, I will contact you after your order for extra shipping charges.
Order here: https://www.bladeforums.com/help/2024-traditional/ - Order as many as you like, we have plenty.
First thing, we try to keep stickies to a minimum. That said, we've got some plans for an informational sticky on traditional knife terms etc, that was suggested awhile ago. It's been percolating for a long time. It'll require some rearranging of some existing stickies and I can't guarantee it'll happen, but it's been something I've want to do for awhile now.... maybe with winter approaching...
To your question; I don't think we want to sticky a particular manufacturers thread in the traditional forum. I'd love to see a GEC sub-forum, in the Manufacturer's Forums, but that is something GEC would have to pursue. I do try and merge some of the new GEC threads, when it seems appropriate. That'll have to do for now.
In case any of you are psychics, will the #55 be made again? What does it take for GEC to make another run of a knife?
GEC makes absolutely fantastic knives IMO. They do listen and are always trying to improve their product. Yes, they make a bunch of patterns and can be difficult to keep up with, but isn't the variety great? Even many of their distributors can't stock every pattern and handle material when practically every week or two they come out with another one. Bill Howard, owner of GEC, is a master cutler and designer, and he has the means to produce some extraordinary cutlery. I'm sure there's no end to the patterns in his mind, so if you missed out on one, there will soon be something else that'll grab your attention! I say we are living in the golden age of cutlery right now with such a great, basically hand-made product available, and the future... ? Who knows!![]()
Believe me I know the feelingDerrick/KSF had a #48 SFO under their Scagel line. I missed out on the bone wharncliffe ones but they still have stag and ram's horn but I can't buy those without seeing the thickness. One thing I like about the #48s is that they're slim.
KSF's pic. I know they have the tooling so I'm not sure why they haven't come out with their versions yet

I did manage to get a clip version of the bone though.

I cant find anything about this on their site anymore. Anyone have any word on it? I want to see pics!! Do you think theyd ever make this with an EO?
They are still coming up on the schedule. Never say never when it comes to GEC - but I would be very surprised to see two full blades in an ez open, much less a clip. Two full blades just don't lend themselves to the added convenience of the notch since you can't just grab one. Also, the clip drops near the end and doesn't lend to the notch either.

I think that is a TC Barlow wish-list for what a lot of us would like to see happen one day.
I missed this knife ( 09 ) when it was discussed a few months ago, depending on scales might just be the one (picturing tortoise shell acrylic for a user). On the GEC site the 09 Esquire is listed at the bottom of projects in progress, does that mean it should be out before the end of the year?
How out the 2 new patterns to ponder named "Viper" and "Magnum" I wonder just what the heck these will be?
