Lets talk GEC!

Thanks for the info and suggestions! I would probably have to wait until sometime in 2014 to go about purchasing one.

That White Owl in particular looks like a really cool pattern, especially with the wood scales.

Are there any 440C sheepsfoot models, with barlow-style handles? So far I haven't been able to find any. The ones I've seen in 1095 look great, but I really prefer stainless.

not really a Barlow, but this little gem is my all time favorite GEC, nary a day goes by without this one in my pocket, You may find one used out there if you look and are lucky

sitflyer - very nice, almost got one of those myself. Instead I got the spearpoint version with jigged bone. Great little knives.

Well, I sold off a bunch of knives to get ready for this run of #15 radios...this is the week!
I wish they kept the lanyard hole option that was on the electrician models but can live without it.

I have plans on getting the ebony/caplifter version. Im excited to see what it looks like. I might not have to carry my SAK manager around anymore just for the bottle opener! Just kind of wish the nail nick on the blades were facing the opposite direction but who am I to complain

I feel like I'm out of the loop on the #15 Radio. Is this a SFO, is it going to be the new GEC Boy's knife, or is it a TC Barlow? I like to drink IPA's, so weather it's a new Boy's knife or a TC Barlow, a #15 with a bottle opener as a secondary tool is right up my alley.

This little guy was what sparked my interest in gec. Only one I've found for sale(while I've had cash to burn) was in some kinda purple bone that I'm not really all that into. Someday, someday.

I just double checked the production schedule. I guess I missed it the first time. Looks like the Radio Knife is going to be my first #15 Boy's knife.

I would love to see a TC Barlow Radio knife, but I think that is ultimately up to Charlie (plus it's probably not a traditional design for the barlow).

I got the Grape one for my sister. She tells me its her favorite knife and used almost every day!!

I have had a middling experience purchasing GEC knives. If I were to buy another, I would do it by phone and get it ironed out up front as to what I find acceptable and then spend my money.

That'd be it! Grape, not "some kinda purple", got it, haha. Yeah, it was a nice looking knife in its own right, I'm just partial to wood. One of these days I'll buy a knife as a gift for someone but I don't know a soul who's got an appreciation for them(traditionals).

You have a Visitor's message....

Looks like quite a different jigging style on this recent run of Boys Knives.

For better or for worse? In your opinion

When I'm able to get one, don't know if I'll want to go w ebony (my fav) or antique yellow jigged (digging the colors)

I like it very much, very reminiscent of the old ways. Just like you this might bias me toward the bone over ebony!

Does anyone know if the Northwoods whittler is going to be built on the same frame as their Norfolk? I am also waiting for the Esquire.

Regards

Robin

Sorry, hadn't been on this thread for a bit. This is built on the exact same frame.

I was thinking about what the Magnum might be. Hoping for one of the 5"+ Remington lockback banana trappers, though given the date of original manufacture I would suggest "Gros Michel" for such a pattern name.

Then again, I thought the Pemberton might be a 5"+ coke bottle hunter and they end up giving me a wee little number. Never can tell I guess.

Mmmmm Hmmmmm! I just gotta know when these babies show up somewhere!!!

They look amazing! Just wish they didn't put that fugly Radio stamp on the blade. Easy fix though. That bone looks awesome but will probably end up w the ebony.

Is that the rust red? The red in other pics looks much more red. Can't tell if that's the red or antique yellow

Etch aside, that Radio Knife looks interesting :)
