Lets talk GEC!

Dare I suggest to non-interested-by-15s-members to leave them for once to those unfortunate who are unable to get hold of one.
In their name I promise none will compete to get any bottle opener/nose hair comb combo. šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚
I only have 2, so I don't believe I am the source of the scarcity. Pm me if you would like šŸ˜‰.

Maybe, or they have just been produced a lot. One cannot tell because everything sells out except for a certain key chain knife. I'm sure the patterns I listed and many more will be well received. Also I'm not recommending a discontinuation of the 15 just an opportunity for other seemingly ignored patterns.

knife for knife that they make, a lot of folks like the 15s, they could make 15s for months and it would all sell. As a knife, they tend to sit on the bell curve of a good general fit for most hand sizes with those needing a little bigger, going 77 or 86. As long as its not a spear Ill be happy. Heck even if they did release 15s, I probably might not even go for it as I have had almost 30 at one point.

No more 15s please. Not until they have run 13s, 16s, 38s, 56, 57, 61, 66, 76, 78, 79, and 98s again. Plus 4 more PPPs. Plus any other request from the internet (excluding 77s and 86s as well).

Yes! And please let one of those PPPs be a mid size swell center whittler, ala the Queen 48, Schrade 863, etc. 3.5-3.75" closed. I'd take a 38 whittler, but I have been waiting for this kind of pattern to emerge.

Still opinion and anecdotal.

I want 15s with end caps and sheepsfoot blades. GEC did make such a thing once upon a time, a second time ā€˜round would be great.

They’re a good size that gives useable handle, useable blade, they’re elegant, work well as single or two blade, and they have a lovely singing note as they open and close. Hard to argue with something that’s been something of a staple, historically.

Are there other patterns I’d love to see?
How ā€˜bout more #48s? I haven’t posted hoping for those in at least a month, lol.

Abother run of the square end stockman would be awesome too. #79? Memory is hazy this morning.

I was really late to the game learning about GEC and traditional pocket knives in general, really only starting last year. It's likely folks like me still waiting to get a chance at a 15 (or other popular frames) of their own. So far, I've mostly had my face pressed against the glass, looking at everyone's amazing collections.

Like with most GECs , for me anyways, it's really been about what's available on the secondary market and all the really cool 15s are either priced out of my reach or fair deals (especially with the quick-fingered folks here at bladeforums) are gone in seconds of a post being made. I've lucked into a less popular 15 (the ebony bail & chain) and overpaid for a nitebrite one but since then I haven't been fortunate enough to be in the right place at the right time.

Everytime I see someone post a great picture of a model I'm unfamiliar with, I look at the tang stamp and for example - in the case of the 44 gunstock - realized that it was made 4 years ago and that if I wanted one, I better start saving my pennies and keeping an eye out starting now.

Of course, that isn't to say I'm unhappy with what I've managed to get. There's been some great models released since I first started paying attention - the 35s really standing out for me - and I'll admit the chase can be part of the fun... until you strike out a few times in a row :). With a full production run I hope to find a knife before they all find their forever homes.

All this text and no photo - I'll have to take a picture of the 15 when it's actually glowing later

Not wrong but better still would be some NEW patterns.

Proper sized Norfolk Knife

A Medium sized Stock knife based on the Dixie but with some decent snap. Or any Medium Stockman that has proper snap and can better a CASE.

A nice 3"+ Sleeveboard.

3¾ inch swell center congress pen. With a wharncliffe and pen blade would hit the spot.
I like how that sounds. A Norfolk is pattern is a beautiful knife in my eyes. Curvy in all the right spots. Really not sure why NW never did another run of their Norfolk whittler. Pattern 31 I believe. Still would love to find a purple camel bone.

It’s really funny, I posted this morning and all day I’ve been thinking ā€œwhat GEC should really do is another Norfolk like they did for Northwoods once upon a time.ā€ Then I come back to this thread and… It would seem that I’m not alone in this. Must be something in the air!
