Lets talk GEC!

Did they get rid of the upcoming production schedule on their website? Not seeing it anymore.

Poof! Seems to be gone! I was curious to know if they were gong to be running regular production 77s after all the SFOs.

A quick trip to Mike's site seems to indicate that they are!

Some of the links there occasionally disappear for a few days, only to be reposted with new info. Hopefully later today!

In regards to using different shields on their knives, I would love to see more variety as well. I scored these two #65 'parts knives' (Burnt Orange 1 of 2 and Autumn Gold 1 of 3) last month. I love the Northfield shield on these. It's not seen very often, but I prefer it over the Un-X-Ld shield. I wish they would use it more.

Looks like Derek's got another SFO in the works. Anyone know what frame?

Northwoods
MICHIGAN EO JACK
SFO: Derrick Bohn
Wharncliffe Blade / Easy Open / All Steel

I want to know more about the KSF SFO as well, but with EO, wharncliffe and denim micarta I'm quite sure it's a "must have" for me.

I'm guessing it'll be on the #77 frame just because GEC is already making them and SFOs around them. They tend to like to group the knives under the same frame at the same time. It saves production time, cost and effort. Derrick, feel free to correct me :)

And I didn't notice there will be denim micarta... I'm a fan myself...

Just adding my vote for a variety of shields

Even if their prices went up to cover it.

Just received an email from Chris stating they received my knife for repair and we are looking at a few weeks lead time. I'm cool with that!

Sounds like the Broadway Jack is getting a big brother to me. That would be really cool

My #25 just got back with beautiful new cocobolo scales--two months after they received it. Feels good back in the pocket.

Last month I sent in a Harness Jack with a pin that hangs through the liner far enough to hit the tang each time I closed the knife... I got it back last week without a thing done to it. A real bummer.

I contacted them again and they were apologetic and asked me to send it back again. I hope it's fixed this time but after 2 trips I'm already a bit soured.

Very cool 65s! Haven't really seen the Northfield shield much lately at all. I dig the acorn a lot, as well as the stainless GECs it comes on.

ive been thinking of getting a ben hogan, hows the blade width on that? can you do a picture with it on top of the 15? i managed to get that one from a fellow bladeforums member and would like to see how it compares. thanks!

That top picture there is a #65 shown with a #15. Would you prefer a picture of it with a #15 with a clip or spear blade instead? The two knives are about the same width but the #65 is a bit longer. Carries very well.

yes please, i meant to say can you put the ben hogan on top of the 15 for the shot, for a blade width comparison thanks!

Laying one knife directly on top of the other doesn't make a very good picture to determine the differences in width so I set them on a ruler..... this way you can directly compare your own. The 15's clip is actually about 1/16" wider than the 65, at the widest point.

Hope this works!

thanks a lot for taking the trouble! ive been thinking about that ben hogan model for a while as well as the 15. of course i managed to get a few here of the 15s and like them a lot

Yes, that banner type shield on the Northfield looks very fitting on a long handle.

Been brooding about a Hogan, it looks a handsome knife- got my eye on a Barehead Tidioute version in Bloodwood, but I think it's just too big for my usual taste, still a very appealing knife though......
