Lets talk GEC!

How is the new cap lifter different from the past design?

I think the older ones didn't grab the cap very well, and it took two or three tries (or more ) to finally get the bottle open. Some members tweaked theirs a little by doing some hand filing and got them to work more satisfactorily. I would guess GEC changed the design on the new ones so they work better.

Can someone please for the love of knives have GEC make the #85 with a single spear? No linerlock, maybe an easy open notch and a lanyard hole.

Please! I need one! If I had the skills I'd remove the pen blade on mine so it'd only have the spear blade.

Please.

;)

This was an SFO through collectorknives.net. Maybe contact them regarding an encore?

I don't understand the word "encore". What do you mean by it?

The last time I checked collectorknives.net were sold out of the ones I want.

I want one exactly like the one in the picture. If I had the money I'd ask GEC to make me a SFO. #85 Flash edition.

Encore; It's French, it means "again" or "furthermore". People shout it at the end of concerts if they have particularly enjoyed it.

Does that mean it's the opposite of "RUBBISH!"? ;) :D

The last time I checked, there were still some single spear blade GEC 85's left on a particular distributors site who is not a member here. These are stag only and darn few about, so don't delay.

I just checked his site... bad news as the knife is sold.

What bone is that on the closed Farmboy next to the radio knife? I like that! Says vintage all over it, especially because its a barehead jack!

The handle materials for the #15 Boys Knives are Ebony Wood, Rust Red Jigged Bone, Antique Yellow Jigged Bone and NifeBrite Acrylic. This run will be Gabon Ebony. The Farm Boy and the Radio Knife included. Any other handle materials will either be an SFO, or a Factory Short Run, I think.

I had wanted the same knife for some time and had all but given up on ever being able to find one when I stumbled upon this one for sale by a member on another site. Crazy thing is that it had been posted for sale on that site for almost a month and the seller had dropped the price twice before I found it. Best of luck, I hope you find your knife.

... I would love to see a #79 Workhorse two-blade with a clip main and coping of 440C, with the brown micarta handles. I for one would use this knife like a rented mule! And . . . . I'm sure it would take it.

Out of curiosity, are you thinking 2 blades in a two-spring Jack configuration as in the upcoming #78, "American Jack"? With a coping blade instead of the pen?

Or in the single-spring, opposite-end configuration as per their last #79, but with a clip main?

(I do better with pictures, and am trying to envision this Rented Mule of which you speak. :))
