Lets talk GEC!

You should look at the #77 Yankee Jack. Clip blade with pen behind main and end caps. The Yankee Jacks with light Ebony wood are very nice.

I think I read in another thread that GEC will be producing another run of the Bull Nose Sodbuster. Does anybody happen to know when that will be? Are there mailing lists at certain dealers I should get on so I won't miss out? Thanks for your help.

I Just saw today that GEC will be making an easy open Jack on a #77 frame for Derrick. That should be interesting...

In black camel bone too! If it comes out looking anything like the covers on this knife, it'll be a must have!!

As for all of the GEC info being aggregated into one spot, I hope that NEVER happens..... what's the fun in that? Plus, I wouldn't be able to pick up the secret stash knives that way!

I picked up my bark ivory # 54 Northfield yesterday. Rain today so i cannot take pictures but Rockon75 did post KSF's picture of this knife in post 3349 pg 168 of this thread.
Usually one can see some of the grain without magnification. This ivory which is referred to as "bark" because it comes from the surface of the tusk shows no grain what-so-ever even with a 9x loupe. I have 6 or 7 ivory handled GEC knives and all show plenty of interesting grain. If the dark scarring streaks were not present i would have guessed these handles to be a man made plastic like substance, but not Micarta because it has a type of grain or lines in it.
It is a very nice knife but i am a little disappointed in the ivory which made this a $350 knife.
Maybe others who have one of these 'final run' ivory folders could use a loupe to examine the ivory and report findings here. I would like to know if this 'no grain' ivory is on others from this run as well.

Hey kj, I got one of the 15s and the grain is nothing outstanding but is definitely present. I'm well pleased with it.

I hope you get some more feedback, if I had waited I would have ended up with one of those 53s.

kj-this is the one you bought.

Nice pictures.

One of the things I love most about this company is that I find myself constantly surprised.
I've had this little 25 for quite a while. It's my go to when I've carpentry fixits to do (very useful in the pocket and compliments the chisels well) and was trimming a hinge housing on a door frame when I noticed the tangstamp. I then checked my collection - not a big collection mind, a couple dozen 25s and about the same with various mixed patterns but can find no other match.

Does anyone else have anything other than this run of 25s with the same tangstamp?

Paul

Does anyone know if GEC will ever do another run of the 15's with long pull single spear? With either both end caps or bare head? Really been wondering. Thanks
dave

Yes, that's the one. I am really hoping i get a chance at one some day, I wish I knew about these a few years ago. Thanks
dave

I assume that they will eventually make more single blade #15s just because of how popular the #15s have been. GEC is still in the biz of making money, not just awesome knives. I'm sure it can't hurt to make a guaranteed sale. They've made other variations of the #15s already so they may be rolling around back to a long pull spear. I think the only type missing is a wharncliffe version.
