Lets talk GEC!

Wow, that's quite the haul to return to. I love the wall street pattern. Surprised it wasn't more popular

Thanks tdkfm,

To be fair I was last in the States back in September ;) and we're now officially in the Christmas season!

I really like the look of the Wall Street and it seems like it'll be a small, light-carrying classic.

Really looking forward to literally, getting my hands on these...

Best,

Ben

Let me know how you like the wall street. I'll have one in 22 days

Pardon me if this has been discussed before, but has GEC ever shown any interest in making a coffin jack? I was researching the Winchester last night and saw a few people suggesting that GEC should make one, but they were old threads and nothing ever came of it.
Just think, a northfield coffin jack in jigged autumn bone or ebony with a long pull spear and lined and pinched top bolsters, preferably 3 5/8" with satin finish on everything, but I would be fine with a mirror polish too.

Always thought the same thing, their 77 spear would fit nicely on a coffin jack frame in the same length or just a touch smaller.

There have been quite a few classic patterns that GEC has yet to touch~

I've been dreaming for a natural canvas 85 EO , hope the shield is different than the cloud used last time. Fluer-did-lis would be nice but I'd prefer none .

The shield is a big selling point for me, and I agree with you on the Fleur de lis. I'm also partial to the propellor and bowtie. We don't see those often enough, in my opinion. Bomb and arrow head shields are also nice. I like the cloud but don't have a knife with that shield yet. I'm new to collecting GEC knives, so I haven't grown tired of the cloud. I could see the #85 looking good without a shield, too, especially with the lined and dimpled bolsters.

Regardless, I'm in for at least a couple CK SFO 85's. This place is killing me!

Anyone knowing this is a full run of 85s or just the SFO? I assume there will be others.

There will just be the SFO's this time around. I am looking at the shields GEC has actually produced before and trying to finalize my choice. I always like the houndstooth, but am thinking about the propeller or corset. What do you think?

Corset is my vote. I like the fullness and angles of the corset. The propeller might make the knife look too busy with the match pull, pinched bolsters, EO (especially on the scandi)
. Just my opinion...

Corset Mike! One of my favourites and we haven't seen it utilised near enough on the GEC lineup~
Only knife I've seen it on was a GEC 25 sheepsfoot with EO and it looked top notch.

I already have one reserved from you. The shield choices you listed all sound good. I'm going to end up ordering more from you I'm afraid. Thanks for the info.

Personally, I prefer the propeller for this pattern. It looked great on the forum knife. A bomb shield (or acorn... I know it's not stainless, but, but, but...) might look good and take up less real estate on the scale. Just my 2 cents. I'm sure that whatever you come up with will be great. I reserved 3 already, regardless. It's a sickness.

Propellers and bowties just seem to look better when centered; and I really don't like shields way out in the center myself.

I think the prop on that 62 looks amazing. In fact, I've been searching high and low for that very knife for months now. Thats a great blade combination. I've resigned myself to the fact that I'll just have to wait for GEC to make it again one day.

I think the 85 would look good with the hounds tooth shield.

That's another great option! (After an 85 google photo search, the prop is still my favorite, though.)

I'm excited for an 85 with a coping secondary blade, one of my favorite blade styles for sure, will definitely be adding one to my very small collection of 85's!

At this moment I would say the propeller shield on the 85, the bladeforums knife had the propeller shield and it looked really nice. I'm trying to picture what it would look like with a corset shield, but it's hard to see it... Anybody got some skill with a photo editor? Also, the 48 had a run with a corset shield. A houndstooth could work too.... Oh no to many good choices *self destruct*
