Lets talk GEC!

I'm with you guys and the corset shield. It's got the fullness to it that would fit the 85 frame nicely.
 
I would really be quite happy with either of these shields. Thanks Mike for setting up this SFO! I have a huge weak spot for 85s.

I stand by my choice with the corset, I think putting the prop shield would be appropriate but it'd be nice to see a shield that hasn't already been on an 85 to switch it up a bit.

Either way though..I'll be happy

The Corset would be a very worthy choice for the 85, nice to know something different is being considered. Mind you, the pattern has worked well with the Prop, Cloud and unXld shields too. A simple Bar or a Bomb could be another suggestion. Here's a 25 Corset

Then there's this one that appeared on the 66 Slim, I think a few 25s may have had it too? A Gimp type shield or Double Fluere de Lys? What people should remember is just what a fantastic job GEC does of inletting their pinned shields whatever the shape, whatever the material. Nobody else comes close at the moment:thumbup:

Some beautiful examples Will.

I've actually never seen the 'gimp' shield used on a GEC so that 66 is a new sight for my eyes.

That's the corset I was talking about when I mentioned an EO 25 though. Beautiful work.

Another shield I enjoy that doesn't seem all that common would be this one. Was only a concept as GEC's 2015 model for us but I think it'd look mighty fine on a 85.
-As would a long bomb shield

That long bomb looks amazing. I like longer, asymmetric shields on asymmetric patterns like the #85. The converse is true for me, as well, which is why I like the prop centered on a #62 so much. The corset is growing on me, but I think I like those wider, shorter shields for chunkier patterns like the #25.

At the end of the day, I know I'll be happy with whatever Mike chooses. Throwing around ideas with all these photos sure is fun, though.

Nothing against propeller & corset shields, but I'm not sure they'd look "right" on an 85. Especially the corset. Love it on the 73s though. The 85s w' the bowtie shield look great to me & it'd not hurt my feelings to see them on the next run. What would really excite me is them using something entirely new that they've never done before. Other than a simple bar shield, I've no real ideas what I'd like to see.
 
We need onespeedfreak to do a sketch for us. He's amazing with drawing sketches. He can draw up the 85 frame with the shields mentioned. I'll reach out to him.

I agree on the rectangular bar shield. It may be simple but it's a nice accent to an already very accented knife.
I'm just not for reusing the same shields on a different year's run.
Switching it up a bit with something that hasn't been done before would be great.

EDIT Update

It's been noted that on the Early Reservations the shield of choice for the upcoming 85's is a corset shield :D

These 85s are proving hard to resist. Can you guys do me a favor and reserve them all before my will breaks. :D I need to see some !!! on each one.

I tried filling them all up Brett, looks like I failed and you're just gonna have to buy 1...well, at least 1 I mean, probably 3.
 
Won't fail you either Brett ;) Reserved 2...although considering it's a corset shield..wouldn't it be the last perfect match to your others ;)
