Lets talk GEC!

Hey everyone. I just discovered this place about a month ago. Like many, I used to carry a pocket knife all the time, but something happened along the way and I stopped. Anyway, I am in a place now where I both (1) wanted to reconnect with that and (2) actually found myself with a regular need for a knife. So after much research (and lurking), I ended up with a Northfield #54 Moose in red hangman's bone. (I'll try to figure out how to post a pic.) I just can't believe this thing. I could nitpick, I suppose, but I bought it to be carried and worked, and it has been a fantastic tool these past weeks already. It feels so great on my hand it probably isn't getting much pocket time.

Anyway, I wanted to share and say thanks, since you all unknowingly helped direct me to exactly what I was looking for. Unfortunately, I think I also caught the knife bug hanging around this forum.....

Peace,

Michael

I think I figured this out...

Yes. I got 50 so they would last for months; turns out that might have been a little pessimistic...

Man, with all the talk on here (with more than a few people saying they ordered multiples) I figured I might not even get one. Glad I will.

Thanks, ~ P. You're always a wealth of information.

You're welcome, though I'm sure others here could have answered without having to look it up! :o Between the pattern names, frame #s, and variety of patterns on given frame, it can get confusing. "#74" sounded vaguely familiar, but then I had to go figure out why, heh.

Should be exciting to see and use, and I hope they let us know soon what kind of scales they're going to use.

GEC just keeps on getting better and better... especially when it comes to their jigged bone! I'd put the scales on my #76 Western Outlaw on par with my Case/Bose Coffin Jack which is quite astonishing at 1/3 of the price. The #76 is a fantastic knife and I haven't heard it mentioned much on the boards... did I miss all the hoopla??:D

Speaking of jigged bone, the scales on my #15 Radio are cut so crisp and clean, they could almost be synthetic. Bravo, Great Eastern, bravo!

Just ordered my first GECs since I paid for the 2013 forum knife. A #71 in canvas micarta and a #81 in osage orange. Can't wait. I think 2014 will be the year to buy more traditionals for me.
