Lets talk GEC!

When I first heard about the early reservation on the RBB I ask ( In one of these GEC Threads) if anybody could show me what they looked like. I got a quick response by at least two people . Witch resulted in me beating the feet right over to the site offering the reservations and happily getting in line :D

T.Willy, afraid to say the current run of RBB covers may not look the same as the pic from the previous run of RBB (go to GEC site to check them out). Hope I am wrong on this because I really was hoping to score me one beautiful knife!

From what I've gathered from my limited time here is that GEC's bone names are pretty generic. I don't recall to many runs that are identical from run to run. The smooth autumn gold bone on the last run of 77 barlows is a perfect example. The 2 bladed knives had a deep dark color while the single bladed model were much lighter. You can't really expect them to get the dye jobs identical everytime. There are quite a few variables like bone density and the human elements when buffing, adding dye, soak time, and such. This is not exactly a science. I think the darker bones come out a little more uniform because they are just that, darker. They are a little more forgiving.

Thanks for the heads up HKG I actually already saw them and at first I did feel a bit let down but then I remembered that you can never tell until you get the knife in hand. For one the pictures could be miss deceiving also the photos only show a few of the 100 knives that are getting made so I'm just going to hope for the best. Ether way it will still be a cool knife IMO

If you take a look at the first two pics under "What's Happening" on GEC.s website I think it will pep you up some. You can see some definite "splocthes" on the Rotten Banana. That are ready for packaging. Haven't learned how to post pics yet sorry.

I'm hoping the 2-blades have lots of "rotten" in the banana!

If they don't, I guess I'll have to leave mine on the counter for a while.

I know there are 15s on the way later this year, any rumors out there whether there will be some barlows run as well?

from what ive read the original rotten banana bone was the product of a big mishap in the factory. Something unknowingly had dripped or had been placed on the yellow bone and not discovered until 'too late'.

Mistakes are hard to replicate.

GEC will be finishing the #14 boys knives soon. What would you like to see on the next production schedule? I'd love to see some more knives in the 3.5 inch closed range. Maybe a run of 55's or 68's.

What I'd really like to have is a larger Coyote in osage orange and maybe one in ebony.

I'm pretty sure it's the Beer Scouts next, but you never know. I'd like to see the Fremont or Northfield barlow next.

COFFIN JACK! COFFIN JACK! COFFIN JACK!
I would also like to see a run of 77 jacks with a secondary coping blade. A 66 or 68(also with coping blade) would be pretty sweet too.

More stainless, of course! ;) Stainless Soda or Beer Scouts, Coyotes, and Beagles would be lovely.

I'm hoping they do another run of the 62 courthouse whittler. I've been trying to get my hands on one ever since I missed the original release.

Great suggestions Travman.
A 55 in Osage or Ebony would make a nice "Larger Coyote". Some new White Owls or Eureka's would certainly be welcome... nearly anything in 3.5" Osage Orange would be nice... but I gotta go with Kitten Party on this...Sowbelly please.
