Lets talk GEC!

This is what Rotten Banana Bone should look like! Not that mostly yellow, light brown mess that is pictured on GEC's website. And pleeeese don't tell me about bone density, ink dyeing, blah blah blah. When something is advertised and sold to you as a specific product, in this case Rotten Banana Bone, and you have precedent on what the product should look like, then by golly, do it right. And if you don't or can't, then be upfront with your customers and tell them that you messed up and give the customer a heads up before you ship out the product so that the customer has the option to not purchase the product, thus doing away with the hassles of returning the knife! Whew, okay I got that off my chest, now for a light splash in the warm Hawaiian waters of Ala Moana Beach Park.

I understand your frustration HKG, but look at this way. If you don't like it, you can send it to me and get your money back. ;) I'll call it my laffy taffy boy's knife. Mahalo

We're getting RBB that was plantain. There's always variation in the covers. It's a production knife.

Alan

Alan, I get it......not expecting a custom knife build, and I do understand that there is some degree of variation from run to run, but come on, this is waaaaaay off.
Not sure what you meant by "RBB that was plantain"? Isn't plantain a green fruit that looks like a banana? lol

Y'all are cracking me up with the rotten banana anger. I stuck with ebony to keep it safe. Really liking the antique yellow jigged bone more than the two I have now, but I like them a lot also. Crazy how much more brown that is than normal too though.

No anger, no rotten banana mood, just having some fun!:)

Always good to take it easy when writing and responding. Easy for folks to get the wrong impression from a post because there is no facial expression or voice intonation to add to the meaning. Responding to a response to a mis-interpreted post has to be done carefully, too.

That being said, I think you folks are ready to move on to a new topic in this thread.

Really.......okay Mr. Psycho, whatever you say, ya know you are the man!

No ill feelings, I just meant that buying something before it's made will always carry the risk of the final product not being completely to your liking. If you can't handle this, you should restrain from reserving and stick to buying knives that you can see or hold. This is especially true when it comes to the color of dyed bone.

New subject. Got a little trigger happy on the 14. Been waiting on an ebony, next thing I knew, there's an antique bone and rust red in the cart. Ole the humanity!

Same here. Rust red and white bone on the way!

Yes it was!! ;)

Thanks lutejones I kinda thought The Courthouse whittler was a split back. And the word is Bill Howard makes some of the best slitbacks around. Im looking forward to getting an opportunity to buy one :D

Yeah im just looking to get my first whittler period. I really love the look of the pattern especially the split back ones they seem to be a very handy kinfe indeed. Speaking of that can anybody tell me if the Courthouse Whittier is a split back?? I was just assuming it was witch I know can be a mistake. :D

The only image I have of the springs - I don't know if you can make it out or not but it does have a 'modern split back' as opposed to the much rarer old divided single spring or what some refer to as a true split spring whittler. Anyway:

I no longer have this knife (I traded it to someone who was much more desperate for it than I). :)

I'm trying really hard to keep a Nifebright 14 out of my shopping cart. Hopefully, they sell out soon so that I don't have a choice. :o

I'm holding out for a 2 blade! In Rotten Banana Bone, no less!

I think the slimness of the single blades would make the 14 a little small for me.

On an unrelated note, how about some more 13 congress jacks!!

Sorry Frank, I had a feeling we were getting a little off topic. I guess RBB elicits a little more fun than ordinary.

Alan

I'm liking the look of the oily creek bone GEC posted.

I can't tell you guys how many times I've shuffled my #14 reservations between handle covers and 1-blade / 2-blade. at least 4 maybe 5 times. I lost count. And then the photos of the antique yellow jigged bone surfaced. I'm still torn which 2-blade to get.
