Lets talk GEC!

They came out darker than I was expecting.

I want one! I hope they do a large run. I haven't seen any waiting/reserve lists yet.

I see the GEC production schedule was updated today with what has been completed so far. Nothing new added. Who knows what the new year brings?

The KSF SFO is still just Steve and not renamed the Bear Lake yet.

I am hoping for a run of 25's with spear point blades in stainless for 2017.

Looks like the schedule is a bit behind. I believe that the latest batch of Mudbugs were supposed to be completed before year's end.

Edit: Looks like the Mudbugs got moved back to January.

I'd like to see any sort of run of 25's. I'm sure I would like whatever they put out.

It would be really cool to see a run of 25's with the EO notch and sheepfoot blades with the addition of a short caplifter. Basically it would be a mini Beer Scout.

They did a fairly large run of 25s' a few months ago, all configurations were offered in covers, notches, blade-types, etc. That may mean another run might not happen in 2017 (just my wild guess). :-)

I think it was October or November 2015 when they last made the last run of 25's. I bought three for Christmas presents. You never know with GEC. It seems like the patterns I don't care much about get made every year.

It was around November of last year. I've never been able to figure out the reasoning behind what patterns GEC produce when. It does seem like some are made almost every year, while others haven't been made for several years. Certainly makes it hard to predict when a pattern will be made again. :D

It's a safe bet that we'll see a 15/77 every year.

Some patterns like the 26, 81, 79 seem to be begging for a comeback, though. Sometimes I think it's just about what Bill wants, haha

I'd like to see a stockman run. Maybe a cattle knife kind of deal on the 35 pattern. The last one they did was the 82 in 2014, right?

#25 "Little Jacks" produced Nov 2015,

#25 "barlows" produced March 2011

Barlows are due? Hopefully!

What there was NOT and really should be amongst last year's 25 release was a Drop-Point run. Simply, it's the best blade for the frame in my experience. But, oh so rare....

I have yet to understand why GEC insisted on making the 15's at least 10% of their production in 2015 and appear to be continuing that again in 2016. I personally do not have a 15 in any pattern yet other than a Beer Scout intended to be a gift. It is a well made knife i grant you that , but there are other patterns out there that I much prefer if for no other reason than size . I know there are many people who Love the TC Barlows and I don't blame you at all , but I will not put up with the Lolly Scramble to get one. I much prefer the 77 size and have my share of them . There are many more patterns that I would like to get from GEC that they just are not making. With that being the case , I have found that I have started looking at other brands to buy and that just does not sit well with me .I even had to put Case and some out of country knives on my Christmas list . I expect that GEC has to run a lot of a pattern at a time to make much money , but I have seen a lot of postings just in this thread that show people are wanting more patterns . There , now I have vented and if I have offended anybody , I am sorry , but I would like to buy some more Northfields

Your definitely not alone in your way of thinking . Maybe 2017 will mix things up a bit. :D

Harry,

I have to agree on all points..... With one exception. I know why GEC is making tons and tons of 15's. Many people absolutely LOVE that pattern. It's not just the TC Barlows, it's all of them, except the one arms and Navy's, which I find oddly interesting myself.

I'm generally a 3 3/4" or above kinda guy myself, I must admit that I have a thing for the 55/56/57 dogleg pattern which is 3 1/2", but generally speaking, I prefer a handful of a knife.

One knife I can't wrap my head around is the 73. Sure, it's nice and I have a couple, but this is a re-run pattern that could take a break for a few years IMHO.

Sorry to hear you have to put other knives on your wish list. Truth be told, I've been eyeing some Queens and Schatt's lately myself but that's always a crapshoot.

Harry and Steve- I'm totally with you guys. I know 15's are coming every year, and I look at that as a month or two where I focus on the secondary market. Same with the 73's.

My entire GEC collection are splitback Whittlers at this point, though... so I guess I'm an odd bird anyway.

I see photos of #73 Hunters progress listed in the What's Happening section of the GEC site. Didn't see a hunter in the production schedule? I wonder what that is?
