Lets talk GEC!

That Heartland clip does look mighty fine, mainly (to me anyway) because they finally came to their senses and put the nick below the swedge and not in it. The clip being slightly longer than the spine and the less abrupt belly also give it a very sleek look. All in all, a beautifully designed clip blade.

Now if they would just pair that blade with a sheepfoot secondary, they would have about the ideal jackknife.

I've gotta #74 Ebony Heartland Clip headed my way... :)

Congrats 1 ADAM12!! That is nice, I like everything about that one!!! The fact that it's a Northfield yet has an "as ground" finish (satin blade) is an added bonus. (IMO) -James

Here's my 38 with the crest shield and some others with very classic shields.

I don't like the cloud or Tidioute or Northfield shields. ...but I think the Tidioute shield looks better without any text.

The second pic, cap lifter on the left. What is that and how do I get one?

That's the 2011 Traditional Forum knife. It was the knife that introduced the #85 pattern. GEC hasn't made a cap lifting #85 since. Only way to get one now is through the secondary market. Below are the production numbers.

#852211STL EO
Brown Peach Seed Jig Bone – Blade Forum 191 pcs. no serial number

Thanks for the kind words. After a night of grieving, I'm finally okay. :P

I'm 99% sure I dropped it in the city, so I don't think I'm getting it back. Some lucky German got themselves a nice GEC. I will have to find a replacement for the Mustang though.

I share your pain, recently lost my Burnside Jack in a similar manner, real heartbreak. I hope you find a nice replacement soon!

Well my maroon micarta Beer Scout is officially only the second knife to ever cut the heck out of my thumb when I wiped off the blade with a paper towel.

The first knife to ever do so was a new 2013 Spyderco Native 5 Forum Knife.

Clearly the sharpener at GEC put in some solid work on that knife. Well done.
