That is the Cougar Clawed Bone 74's and as for as I know , the dealers probably Do Not Have them yet. Even though SWMBO has told me to order one , I don't think I can really order one yet.

I'm starting to think that predicted production schedules should cease.
I doubt I am alone in the
"ooh I'll wait for that one in those covers only to miss out when it get inexplicably canned by which stage there's none left of any of the others that I could go for"
stakes.
So having recently pounced on the first spring green 74 I saw drifting past for fear of missing out I ended up with a rather anaemic looking dye job- I reckon it slipped through QC just before lunch time. All of the others I have since seen look a lot better.
Just to be clear there is no fault whatsoever with the knife other than a crud dye job.
I am being picky because aesthetics are important to me and I believe to many other people.
The production schedules seem to get everyone salivating ( and I can drool like a mastiff when the scent of a new knife hits me) and then there is a period of hedging and floundering while we wait for them to actually appear.
I think GEC should produce all the knives in the run before any marketing goes on.
Would this not make it easier all round?
All feedback and comments welcome

Yours is an argument for only buying individual knives on a WYSIWYG basis, not ceasing predicted production schedules. You didn't like the one you got and maybe should consider returning it. But it wasn't like you ordered green bone and instead got ebony.

I'm pretty sure he got green bone etched with yellow instead of green .At least from the pictures I viewed .
I agree though as I would of returned it faster then I opened the tube [emoji6]

Allow me to clarify a couple of things. first -thank you all for your input.

Its not the production that should cease-they should make more:thumbup:its those darned upcoming lists.
I do have a bad taste about unpredicted changes in schedule because I pre ordered a snakewood viper of which many did not make it to dealers for some as yet unknown reason and so missed out-although there must have been a good reason and thats life. BUT I then swapped a TC barlow for one and that was good -but it would have been better for me if I could have simply purchased one.
By the same token I see much vaunted productions still on the dealers sites for ages after the hubbub has died down.
Neither did I consider sending the stallion back because like me it does what is asked but is a bit different (thus spake the knife god?)Like a yellowy green moss it is growing on me:D
end of the day im no business man just a simpleton who likes good quality pocket knives.
Who's with me?

Clarification #2

Sadly for me and no doubt many others I have no other basis than WYSIWYG to make my purchases.
I also have to factor in the up to 3 weeks one way mailing time if I decide to return something to The USA. Remember its already taken 2-3 weeks to reach me before I see it in person by which time it is likely there are none left to swap for anyway even if the dealers did do swapsies for pernickety fusspots like me.
Thankfully it has never happened with any GEC of mine. Anyway I hope no one thinks I'm trying to start an argument -guess I'm just whinging. Should I have waited and possibly missed out ? ...idontthinkso.
The simple answer is for GEC to build more 74s.

I, too, got a very yellow spring green 74. It arrived just yesterday and am very disappointing since i love the spring green sawcut on my 77 Barlow. Looks nothing close to the 77 color. everything else is flawless and the blade is super duper sharp (GEC sharpeners have stepped up their game!).

I must say I'm sorry hear that some folks have received a green and yellow bone . But on the other hand I'm so glad I didn't pull the trigger on one since I really liked the pictures of what they should of looked like .

I'm glad it's starting to grow on you. I guess this is the biggest reason they put disclaimers on websites etc. Note; Natural materials will show variations etc.et. The smooth orange bone 74's varied wildly in the last run.
