Lets talk GEC!

Well, shoot. I got in on the polished stag (my favorite of the choices), but should of confirmed an iron wood too. It will be interesting to see what tidioute/other SFO variations will be available.

I guess the 25 was not part of the remind system alerts.
I got a text around noon, but didn't have my phone and missed out.

I'm a touch disappointed, but I have been trying to get away from single blade traditionals, so it's probably for the best. I'm not that big a fan of the "single spear" format, a clip would have made me more sad to have missed.

Holy cow, where are those Calf Ropers? I can't wait to see some finished pics.

I have been missing out on various knives (Northwoods particularly) because they are released while I'm at work. I received my notification text from CK five minutes into the 10AM break at work with my phone in my hand. I reserved one of each option. It's nice to have good timing once in a while. ;)

I guess I was lucky on these 25's! I got my notification text at 1:04 PM Eastern and by 1:08 PM I had received my three confirmed email responses for Red Saw Cut, Ironwood and Polished Stag! :D:eek::thumbsup:

Good for you and glad you were successful. Getting skipped on the notification has convinced me to no longer participate in the reserve system. Like you I'm at work during the day and don't have time to chase down releases from other vendors who don't have a reserve system while I'm working. I have plenty of knives so it's not a big deal to skip the GEC stuff as there are plenty of other companies who make nice knives which are available through other sellers anyway. It's not like my failure to do business with the vendors utilizing this system will make any difference to them anyway.

Notwithstanding the above it does look like a nice knife.

Ever since I signed up for the txt alert with CK, I've gotten a remind by txt every release like clockwork. I do labor work outside 5-6 days a week but usually have my phone with me. I just so happened to take a break for a passing storm right when these went up. I had more than enough time to reserve the one I wanted. I feel bad for the guys who it's not working out for. I for one am very happy Mike puts these out on reserves for people who do work the daily grind. The txt alert works wonders for me where as email alerts are basically useless.

Me too until today. Granted it's a free system designed for school alerts so it is what it is. Again no big deal but chasing this stuff just ain't worth it to me anymore. Glad you got what you wanted. Post some pics when you get it.

Will be interesting to see what the Buffed Stag looks like. Has this been used before on a GEC offering?

The last 85's had polished stag. It was great!

Those look nice and I really like the one on the bottom! I was lucky enough to see the notification this afternoon after I got out of a meeting at work. Reserved a Red Sawcut and a Buffed Stag. Excited to see the stag!

Hesitated on reserving an ironwood 25, and by the time I checked again they were all locked! Oh well, I knew better than to wait anyway...

Any idea on regular production? Or other SFOs?

I sure will. And I do understand the feeling. I've all but given up on Northwoods for similar reasons. I lost the will to chase them and I wasn't happy with a stag example I received either. There is no time to actually look at what your buying. I have become quite content with any GEC model. They are all great to me.
