I'm eagerly awaiting the Churchill!
I think it will be a great user but not a collectible, but hey, who knows. I like the OD green but the liner lock is really a gimmick to me. for a traditional slip joint, I do not see the need. It also has lock rock, but then again it is not suppose to be like a modern liner lock.I wasn't excited about the calf pen initially, but I trust in GEC! It's uniqueness will prove collectible, whether in failure or in use! I'll be getting my OD tomorrow and will consider a nifebrite if it suits my fancy!
Anyone notice that Derrick put the Calf Pen in the newsletter on Friday?
He is truly a marketing genius, it looks like he's sold almost all his OD green micarta. People will regret not adopting a Calf Pen while the getting was good! I'll probably end up with one of each, sucker that I am...(smiley face, winky face)[

There is another round of OD green coming around. There are quite a bit of them out there now. I do not think people will regret. They will be available for a while. Not a big fan of that retailer.
Right.. I understand. Value does not necessarily mean a monetary amount. I felt from the beginning that this knife will be pretty easy to come by now and in the future. I still feel that way, but decided to pick one up and have been carrying it for almost a week. Not a bad knife but just nothing that is over the top. It is beefy and solid which was a pleasant surprise but that surprise ended. While this thread is not for the purchasing process, I will quickly say that the price point is disappointing. Not collectible in the sense that it will gain value... just in that I'm not sure this combo will be made again given the lukewarm response before many people even have it in hand!

Yes for sure... If this knife talks to you in the way you mentioned, the value is in the eye of the beholder. The two full size blades is there, but for me, the one arm razor is a no go and the liner lock as well. But my use is not on a farm where I am bailing hay and tending chores in the barn. Ha ha. I use my knife to open and take down boxes, open clam shell plastic packaging, Opening frozen food packages, etc. opening a bag of fertilizer or mulch is about the extent of my knife duties when I am doing yard work. So for me, the smaller knives are better for me. Like the 25 Balow. It is perfect for my needs. For the price I would have liked upgraded handle material instead of synthetic but I guess that would have put it even higher. Bottom line, they will be around. I predict the secondary will be a great value!I actually don't think the price is too bad for two full size blades and liner lock, but I'm still unlikely to buy a calf pen.
The only thing that has me interested as a knife enthusiast is this may be [one of] GECs first truly original model. If folks use it, and realize they've been waiting for this all their lives...it may have a lot of value. I'm not seeing such reviews yet, but it's still early.

I don't really see the peanut comparison, but I will predict that when the supply dries up and these are only available on the secondary market, the release price will seem very reasonable.I was very interested in the calf pen initially but put off by the final price.
I've mentioned it before, but I think this knife could be an excellent peanut replacement, if only it were downsized a little.

The Calf Pen is just so weird, how many of each handle got made, I wonder, 100 each maybe?
I'm sure you're right, but my money's on between 100-200 of each handle material. It's probably more than 100 of each. KSF alone currently shows 56 Nifebrite currently in stock.
