I wish GEC had a pictoral glossary for when they used these terms, like for shields, bone colors, jigging patterns, etc.

Wow what a mega run? Will they be doing SFOs for 2 blade 78s?Looks like I'll need that Maher and Grosh.
I'm excited to see the "spear shield".
I decided to try a new series comparing new GEC knives to older knives whose style they were inspired by. I met Bill Howard at the rendezvous, and I saw him and Charlie spending a fair amount of time turning over old antique knives deciding what types of things that would be fun to try. Keep them coming GEC!
Wow, that is intriguing as all get out. I like the idea of pick bone as well. Does anyone know or have a guess if this is going to be a three spring like the 79 or a split back? I was thinking the former until I saw that the secondaries are pen/clip. That seems more like a potential split back setup...
Thanks, Colin. That makes sense. I was thinking doing something like a splitback for one SFO was a lot.
Nyrico: It'll be like the 56 on the left, except with a spear instead of the hawkbill. For comparison, the 79 next to it is a whittler running on three springs, and the 38 is a splitback Whittler running on two. Hope that helps.

Just curious, when will someone get GEC to do a Bare end jack easy opener with a small bolster only on the blade end and a simple shield, like the older knives we all covet so much? Could be done on the #15 pattern and all you would have to do is offer a nice peach seed or old jigging style to the bone. No bail, nothin fancy just the basics.
Looks a lot like my old Utica, which also has banannas nice action for such an abused and oversharpened old knife.I decided to try a new series comparing new GEC knives to older knives whose style they were inspired by. That size and shape, Matt but with no bolster at the butt end of the handle with an easy opener notch and a larger Spear blade. Maybe even without a nail nick.
