Lets talk GEC!

What luck. I could have passed on a moose layout or definatly on a jack, but a single spring calls my name! I just wish the three bladed trims (copperhead/houndstooth and elderberry/bomb) were the trim options for the two bladed versions. Mirror polish and long pulls will make that single spring knife look even sleeker than it already will be, but the UN-X-LD shield is probably my 2nd least favorite shield in GEC's entire stable.

I have seen the 14TCs go with a twinge of regret, but I have to make choices, the cost of rebuilding an engine leaving a biggg hole in my wallet (it was the black & white pair- or nix). As a solace I say that I'll concentrate on 15s.:)

Has the spey blade been confirmed yet, as the third blade on the 82 stockmans? I really prefer the small clip blades used on previous runs, or is that what GEC is calling a spey?

I couldn't find anything on the GEC site, but KSFs write up from the past run describes the spey as "...a Great Eastern's take on a small spey blade"

Based on that, I'd assume that whether some consider it a spey, or a drop point, or a clip point -it will be the same as what they used in the past - as GEC calls it a spey. I could easily be wrong though.

I hope it's the same as before anyway. These may be growing on me a bit...

IF it is the same blade as they used on past 82s, it's a "spey" blade. They call it that anyway. In reality it's a small drop point. Which is fine with me. I never have any particular use for an actual spey blade.

GEC posted some updates to the in progress pics of the 82’s and 85’s.

Man, those SFO 85’s look great. And the polished stag even have the corset shield too! I love having a shield routed into the stag.

Have mercy (if I do say so myself...)!

Well,I got on the computer as soon as I got the notice on the 82's, and missed them again, got on standby, rats

Edit, now that I had time to read the whole message, everyone is standby, l feel better, almost killed myself getting this old body up the stairs to the computer. I saw the message and only read 82's are going up for reserve and took off for the computer.

The print at the top of the reserve page says:
This is going to be an allocated run; and they have been very inconsistent lately. Thus, everyone will be “Standby” on this run. Once we have a knife for you, we will notify you. Otherwise we cannot guarantee production; and will not hold you to the reservation if you can pick it up elsewhere before we notify you of availability.

They're all standby, as he has no idea how many he is going to recieve.

I hope it takes the standbys in order recieved, as I was able to get mine in within 3 minutes of it going up.

It does. You are good!
Outstanding! This is the first time I've caught one of his early reserves (GEC at least) the moment I recieved the text at 17:01. Was already logged in in anticipation, and was able to have my reserve in by 17:04.

I do like a nice stockman. But that clip/wharncliffe single spring with canvas micarta and brushed bolsters is going to be the ultimate slim carry user, I do believe!
