Lets talk GEC!

Just acquired a couple knives on the 66 frame. The teamster jack in jigged redbone and the Northfield calf roper stockman in jigged blood red bone. Boy are these nice knives. Love the slight serpentine yet robust frame and very pocketable size.

2 variations that I'd love to see on this frame would be a punch stockman where the punch thats used on the Teamster Jack would replace the spey and a whittler with clip main and coping blade and pen blade secondaries. Now those would be nice knives. I think a 66 Punch stockman would definitely give Case's 6318PU a run for its money and a 66 SplitBack Whittler... well how cool would that be?

Nice knives and good ideas Lemmy, that #66 frame is very loveable

I could be wrong, but my guess is that it will be a fancy version of the #99 Farm & Field, which is shown on GEC's website to be 3 3/4".

Thank you very much. I have not seen the model 99 F&F pattern yet. I will have to go check it out.

I like your ideas, Lemmy! I'd be in for a couple of the punch stockman patterns! I have two of those HJ6's (one to keep, and one user), and I have a hard time leaving it at home on days when I want to carry another pattern.

Those 99's sure do look nice, too!

The upcoming run of the 99 Wallstreet will also include the #99 Farm & Field Lock Back. It will include the standard F & F handle options with the addition of OD Green Linen Micarta and Maroon Linen Micarta. At least those are the plans so far.

Well how do we start a petition? lol Lets think of some names for the 66 Punch stockman... How bout the 66 TKO? Get it? Punch... Knockout?

Besides the harness jacks, there were a few GECs with multi blades and a punch. Namely the #57 Wrangler and #53 Cattle Baron. What I'd really like is something along the lines of the #53 Cattle Baron keeping the clip, sheepsfoot, and punch while replacing the spey blade with a caplifter. My 1 Cattle Baron had really tough springs, my hardest GEC to open, so I'd like these to be in line with the other #53s I've had (a little stronger than a Vic Pioneer).

I imagine a scout pattern with spear, punch, caplifter, and maybe a can opener will appear at some point from GEC. Which frame should it go on? I'd imagine it on the 68 or 53. Definitely an equal end.

Kind of... I almost never use the can opener so the sheepsfoot would be more useful to me. Kind of like the GEC version of the Victorinox Electrician.

GEC people... get an H20 fixed blade. You have no excuses not to, these things are super cheap and incredibly useful. I got the muskrat clip and it rocks, and it makes a better paring knife at $35 than others I've owned that cost far more.

Not saying the H20's aren't useful but so are Mora's at half the price.

Just checked one of my sources for GEC, and I couldn't find it. are they exclusive to one dealer?

There Special Order but any dealer can get them. Most dealers don't stock them because of the variety available.

Moras are beautiful and affordable woodworking/utility knives, and I have many. But for small game processing and paring knife tasks, I think these kinds of knives are superior in performance. Also I like the full tang, micarta scales, and nice leather sheath that come with the H20s. When in doubt, buy both ;) but this is the GEC thread after all.

I just saw #77 Tidioute listed under WHAT’S IN PRODUCTION. I'm glad to see that #77 will be used for something else than SFOs. Hoping for a big boys knife.

I somehow managed to miss the H20's, they look interesting :)

The forum search function isn't turning up anything on these, have they been discussed elsewhere?
