Let's talk Northwoods

Mark I guess you are right if I try real hard I can pinch it open if I get enough thumb skin forced into the long pull!

Boy oh boy was I excited to get home to the mailbox today...

The action on my giraffe bone specimen is really nice. A relatively stiff pull (maybe a strong 6?) with great walk and talk, phenomenal F&F, and really easy on the eyes. Makes for a great complement to my blue camel Broadway. Pics to come...

These are NOT pinchable. My burlap would not shut. Snap open fine but had to push it shut. Washed/scrubbed it out with Dawn, shot compressed air through it, sprayed Kroil in the pivot, compressed air and then gave it a few drops of QR. Worked it open/close two hundred times it now has a little snap shut! Hopefully gets better with use. Overall not that impressed with this 15 pattern Northwoods effort:( Hope yours works better but it is quite a good looking rascal!View attachment 772944
Do you think you will reach out to
Ksf?

Apologies for the dimly-lit apartment photos, one of my overhead light bulbs burned out right as I took these

One warning issued for insults.
Though hard about issuing another, but let it go.

Talk about the topic, not one another.

My Burlap arrived and I'm very happy with the fit and finish. Blade is dead centered and nice walk and talk . The Burlap Micarta is gorgeous to .The pull on mine is about a 6 on the first pull grabbing the nail nick and then about a 5 all the way up . Not pinchable but I'll live lol . All in all this one is a keeper no doubt .

Here's my first ever denim micarta knife. I enjoy the lighter, well worn appearance of the denim.

As many others have stated, mine doesn't snap closed like I wish, so I'll probably flush and re-oil it at some point. It has made improvements on my recent GECs.

I'm sorry to hear it is a little sticky. That is not terribly uncommon with the rustic finish. It is just really tight in there. We have found that with a little use, it settles right in and works perfectly. Feel free to reach out to us and do a refund/exchage if you want. Even if you use it for a while to see if it settles in, we'll take care of you.

I agree with Derrick. I just went through this with a NIT old O1 Bullnose. Had to work the action for a while until all the surfaces conformed to each other to be smooth; with the worst part being the closing. Even after all the cleaning and lubing I do to any new slipjoint to my possession, I still had to cycle the blade a bunch (to the tune of a hundred times, or maybe more or a little less), and I used it solely for a week. It's perfect now. GEC has a way of tightening the pivots on some of the knives that they produce so it makes it feel like it has bad action, but really it just has to break in because their tolerances are so tight.

I guess you could describe the closing action on mine a little "soft" when it first arrived, but after a few drops of oil and repeated/obsessive openings and closings, everything's phenomenal. Good on ya, Derrick, for standing behind your products like this!

I have just noticed simething about my mammoth Michigan, it has a brass coloured shield. My camel bone has a standard nickel coloured shield. Was this standard practice on that run? Picture does not make it stand out as much. Nice touch actually, I have noticed it on a few other brands occasionally also.15070589642701805364374.jpg
