Let's talk Northwoods

I'm confused. Wasn't the 35 pattern finished up a couple of pattern's ago? Have they just been holding on to these for Christmas?
Probably Derrick wanted to create some space between the Northwoods releases, as the Little Bay and Lincoln jacks came is quick succession.

While the Christmas timing is fortunate, I doubt he planned it that way, since it's not necessary to increase sales, the Northwoods will sell out any day they are released.

KSF confirmed the Delta Jack will have half stops on social media along with 4pm est drop on their website. It’s going to be hard for me to score one at that time of day but I will try.

Good info. Thank you.

4pm est on what day?

Wednesday is the only day of the week I'm not available. Well, its saved my wallet from the last few Northwoods releases.

Fortunate or unfortunate?

I am think they will not sell out immediately. I think they will be around for at least a half hour. More time than the previous runs this year. Plus bad holiday timing. My prediction .

I really hope we can have a half hour to get one. I want a micarta......that’s all my budget can allow this month......LOL

I'm of the opinion that timing is irrelevant. These resemble Fremonts way too much for them to not go quickly. I don't think the Christmas season will hinder it a bit. I think it adds to the frenzy. Do you know how many guys are out there telling their wives "Let me buy this. It will be my Christmas gift, I swear."
At least that's what I would do if I was married. ;)

I think the Fremont Jack is a better looking knife than this new Delta Jack. Both knives have the rustic Bohn-cliff style blade. However, the Fremont has a bigger and tougher looking blade. I’m not sure why. Maybe since the frame tapers and gets smaller at the far end there is more room for a larger blade.

Northwoods has been relying too much on Micarta. Where is the mammoth, rams horn, giraffe bone, or exotic wood options? They even used to offer elephant ivory. Micarta isn’t really an upscale option for me anymore. It is used all he time on plain-Jane Tidioutes. It is more of a working knife option.

The blue camel bone looks good. Black Micarta is always a good user option. But I would prefer African Blackwood or even ebony.

I agree Travman. I think the tapered frame gives it a broad shoulders kinda look. Tougher than this Delta jack but I'll try one out just to pinch on it a little bit anyway.

I like the different colored burlap this time. A bit different. I would do unforgivable things for some good ole fashioned elephant ivory though.......

We will see tomorrow. I am always willing to eat my words when I am wrong. But, If I am right, I will also let you know. Ha ha ha.

I think you have a half hour. Ha ha ha. I feel confident in my prediction. Now I will stick to discussing the knives specifically and not the purchasing process or knarfang with be on it in a heartbeat, Ha ha.

I am really looking forward to this release. I see at least two I love. I wished for denim but the burlap micarta makes up for its absence.

The #35 with a Bohncliff is going to be a huge hit.

I think the increased use of micarta is for larger production in an already crunched production schedule.

Oh man, some of the wood options from previous runs were gorgeous. 466fe5a2637983e25ec4ba62208433f8--hunting-knives-knife-making.jpg

That said, the micarta options are nice. I think I'll try to snag a black micarta to try and replace the black micarta Fremont that I got rid of a while back.
