Life after titanium framelock flippers

Not commenting just to counter, but I do like them.

The "ritual" of opening and closing a well designed and executed frame lock flipper is part of the enjoyment of owning/using them, at least personally. The pressure on the tab, the sound, the timing...all repeatable sensory experiences that are unique to each piece.

That said, my collection is evolving to include more slip joints this year.

Having more options with modern materials in tradition designs is a great trend for the hobby IMO. I'll buy more because of it.
I like flippers too, I would just like to see more that aren't all grey on grey or black on grey.

quality materials.....well made.....more affordable balis. miss the kimuras. sure would like to see ones like those again.

I want to see more bolster locks. I think those are awesome! Its like some of the best features of frame and linerlocks rolled into one.

I for sure like the idea of a modern knife with accents that call out to older styles.

Whatever it is that Emerson does he sure gets the bolsters on his customs looking good.

Then there was this.

By some standards of beauty that may be the nicest Spyderco ever put out.

I have been playing with frame locks for a while now and didnt get tired , I don't see reason to change anything if it works well .
but I might play with button locks in the feature.

Oddly enough, I have never owned a Ti framelock flipper, as my knife budget goes almost entirely towards one-off, custom fixed blades and I'm a big fan of wave and wave-like opening features to the point where I'll barely consider a folder that doesn't have it or can't be modified to do so. However, I really would like to give one a try. Some of the Massdrop/Ferrum Forge/WE collabs have been looking interesting and I have been considering getting in on one, just to see what they're all about. I've only handled a couple knives with bearings, even.

It is just a framelock with a scale overlayed on the lockside. The frame is thinner overwhich the scale is overlayed until it gets to by the pivot a which point it becomes full thickness. The scale only covers the thinned section of the frame and stops short of the “bolster.”

It is not a real bolster only a building style that emulates the look of a bolster. You can see how it works better in this pic.

Given your preference for the wave feature you might look at the Viper Italo.

Really cool mod to a spydy, but personally I've never liked stag or bone type scales. I don't know why, but I always found they look like they should give a great grip, and never do. Maybe it's just me? (or is it whatever they use to seal it? epoxy or ?)

I like my folding knives to be strong, but there is a line. There's no point in having a 12-oz. folding knife with a .25"-thick blade of CPM 3V with .25" titanium scales that's 'as strong as a fixed blade!' when I can just... have a fixed blade.

Some of us have no interest in fixed blade knives. I want to be discreet when I carry.

Really? Titanium (4-5 oz’s) and in a pocket versus in a sheath on a belt. Which is more discreet?
Good point. But a small fixed can be carried discreetly too. I really like the idea of a small fixed in a pocket slip type of sheath.
