Like a phoenix? CSC is reborn...

To put it in perspective, I paid for my 2018 forum knife the day before I paid for my new CSCs, and the forum knife isn't supposed to start shipping until late next month.

I'll give it another two or three weeks before I get concerned.
You are getting regular updates, questions answered and work in progress photos for the 2018 forum knife?

I'm not. But a wait is par for the course when you buy a knife before it's made.

And it's not like there's been zero news since the knives were posted for sale. I know of three that have been completed and shipped: the boy's knife in scarlet bone, and the pinch lockbacks in micarta and walnut. I haven't seen any here, but people over on AAPK have posted pics of their pinch lockbacks.

It sounds like the CSC co-op is really small. I believe Eric said that as of now it's just him and one other cutler (named Kenny) who are independently making the knives in their own shops. So I'm willing to cut them a little slack. Like I said, if I haven't heard anything more in two or three weeks, I'll start getting concerned.

Well, I didn't order any back in July but I do remember them claiming that it was a very small scale outfit with low volume production so I don't suppose customers can expect very swift delivery. However, they could do themselves a big favour by sending out a WIP e-mail to all those who have paid, it would mean a lot I'd think.

You are not getting updates, questions answered or work in progress photos on the 2018 forum knife? I meant it as a rhetorical question, didn’t think you would deny it.

When you call ask for Josh. only two people run the store They both have been very up front with me. If they seem short with you it could have been timing ,you know ,small place and lots of calls. Robin told me they get alot of calls about the knives.offering more money for them, how to move up in line, stuff like that. I trust the owner of Canalstreet, keep the faith. Its not like survive.
As has been said ,RHC is having a show this week end probably not a good time to call . ea42 can give more info than I can ,but the stag boy knives were a after thought ,they will come last .RHC is holding knives and will ship together. If you call and tell them to go on and ship what they have received for you they will, but you will be charged for shipping the rest.

I'm well aware it was rhetorical question. But in regards to unfulfilled CSC orders, I thought it was worth answering.

No one in their right mind would deny there have been updates about the forum knife. Consider the first line of my previous post an error in proof reading on my part.

I must agree ,wip pics and updates would ease our minds ,but I believe the size of the companies we're dealing with here has a lot to do with it . Only two at RHC and really only one at Canalstreet plus a few makers scattered around the country. I know this may or may not help ,but it is the reality of the situation .

the F&F is as good as the older pinches I have .it seems the blade is a little thinner than the D-2 pinches .
The mircatra seem darker than the sample .same as the red boys knife.
If ya ordered a chestnut pinch it should be there but don't hold me to it !;)

Hey guys, first I need to apologize for not paying more attention to this thread, I didn't realize there was so much activity on it. Things have been incredibly hectic, and we've had some hiccups with our startup as I expected. Here's where we're at:

I finally completed and shipped the cocobolo boy's knives and wildebeest pinch knives out today, so I'd imagine Red Hill will start shipping them sometime late next week, or there-abouts. I'll be doing the corn husk knives next, I'm thinking two weeks on them as I'm waiting on some parts that should be done shortly. The biggest issue is the sheepfoot knives; the springs came in waaay too short so they're being done over and the way it looks now will likely be two or three more weeks ( that's an educated guess, please don't hold me exactly to that time frame) before they're cut and back from heat treat. That's holding up the sheepfoot boy's knives (ram's horn and stag), but as soon as they come in the knives will be assembled. It's been an adventure trying to figure out how to get into production mode in our small shops, and there's been a bit of trial and a decent amount of error, but things are starting to mesh up. Just didn't want you to worry, the knives will get done.

If you've got any questions fire away and I'll try to answer them as best I can.

Eric

A huge thanks for your responses. I know you hope for customer patience. A lot of it may be excitement of the customers. Since this is basically a new start up, the chance for problems coming up should be expected. I feel sure everyone that has a knife on order would much prefer to wait and receive a quality product than get something with problems quickly. Thanks again.
