Like a phoenix? CSC is reborn...

I ordered a few different ones at the same time, so it looks like they're gonna make me wait until they can ship them all together.

Must. Be. Patient....

Woodman......

Unlike the companies that you mentioned CSC did not close due to financial reason.....but numerous deaths of experienced employees that would not allow them to continue at the time.

Some analyses of the situation of Queen have intimated that the problems there stemmed from the loss of experienced employees. Of course, we know for sure that at least one Master Cutler, Bill Howard, did in fact leave Queen, albeit several years ago (Does anyone believe that Queen would have gone under if Bill was still there?).

In any case, I would call the inability to produce and thus sell a company's product a "financial reason," whatever the genesis.

I don't mean by any of this to make light of the past tragedies that befell the excellent cutlers at CSC.

Nevertheless, I'm going to remain cautious for the moment. Nobody's going to care about why they go out of business (if they do) when they have your preorder cash.

just got my CSC-Co-op boys knife on scarlet bone today. overall good impression, with some caveats. mostly, the upper tang (forget what that's called) rubs on one side, it's not real sharp, a few tiny liner light leaks, and the bone is tad (not a problem) darker than prototype image. it does have a nice weight & proportion to it and I think these guys are on their way to some great knives.CSC_boysscarletsm.jpgIMG_2680.jpgIMG_2679.jpg

anyone else get a new CSC knife? I'd love to see 'em.

I'm waiting too, but maybe not as patiently as Waverave. Checking my email 2-3 times / day to see if the shipping notice is there yet. I've got four knives coming my way. Seems they're going to send them all at once. (Or maybe in two shipments, as I picked up the stag boy's knife after I placed my order for the other three).

I was going to ask the folks at RHC about that next time I speak to them...curious too if they are going to wait. I'm ok with it I guess but only because there are a whole bunch of GEC #14s to reconcile in the meantime :)

In all honesty though, they may just be trying to conserve budget considering the small quantity of knives being produced and the reality of the business/profitability aspect of this run.

Do you have to pre-pay with the dealers you use?

Yep, pre-pay. Right now CSC is being distributed through only one dealer. And it looks like a pretty tight relationship. My understanding is that the new knives are packaged not in the old CSC boxes, but in boxes labeled with the dealer's name.

I am hoping that bringing this thread back to the top will bring luck that the next shipment of knives is about to drop.:) Anybody else with fingers crossed?

I fear those stag version will be the last ones out the gate...
