Lion Steel "Roundhead" Euro-Barlow

Wow that polish job looks amazing in my imagination and cuts like a laser to :) Apreciate the effort though and I know uploading pictures here with the new forum format can be challenging.
Took me a while but got it dialed in
Now. If you ever feel the need to post any pictures just pm them to me and I can post them for you.

Hey Factor... I made a modification to my knife. I changed the blade shape to more of a tribal spear. I can't upload pics. Can I email you one and have you post it. I can't PM you, maybe have to be a paid member. Tanx. My email is kemble@live.com

I re-profiled one of mine on a sharpmaker with the diamond rods to 30 degrees inclusive. Just wanted to give an idea of what it took with my meager skills.

After a half hour, going very slow, this is what the marker line looked like:

After another hour it was pretty clean, but would only pass the fingernail test:

I still need to finish it on the ceramic stones.

By contrast, I sharpened another on a 1x30 inch belt sander. That took about 10 minutes, going from 600, to 800, then 1000 grit belts, and finishing it on a leather belt with white stropping compound. I used a very light touch (and was really nervous), but it came out the sharpest knife I own. I would not recommend the belt sander on a knife this nice with my low level of skill, too easy to screw it up, but I think I got lucky.

Not a problem , Sent you a email

I got mine in the mail today after getting home from vacation... knowing it was going to be in the mailbox when I got here upped the excitement level about coming home! As others have said, great knife, definitely a bargain. I love the radiused... everything. It took me a few minutes to place it, but it feels almost exactly like a single-blade tl-29

I know the knife weights were listed on the CK website, but has anyone weighed the CF on a digital scale? It feels more than 2 ounces.

They're listed at two and a quarter ounces. I haven't weight my Palo Santo, but I agree. And the reason is Titanium, while lighter than Steel, is not "featherweight" metal like Aluminium. One of Lionsteel's modern folders that comes in both an Aluminium and Titanium frame has an entire ounce weight difference between the two. The weight on these barlows is coming mostly from those bolsters, the backspring, and the blade, and not the slabs.

traumkommode traumkommode , that makes perfect sense, but I swear my ram's horn feels lighter in hand than my stag. Of course, the stag slabs are thicker than the horn...

That additional thickness will impact the weight, too, because, in physics speak, a change in volume can have a much bigger impact on weight than what it appears to have, on account of our ability only to see two dimensional renderings of three dimensions.

Also, in physics speak, I should correct myself, because G10 weighs more than Micarta of similar dimension, because it has a higher specific density. It is possible that stag antler has a higher density than ram's horn. I'm sure there is variance in the densities of CF and wood, although my digit-al scales (fingers and hands, get it?) don't usually note much of a difference in the weight between CF and wood on a knife, as the representative sizes are not massive enough to contribute as much to the weight as the metal does.

Got mine today, great knife for the money.Put a new edge on using my Dmt aligner kit, cuts like a deamon now.

Just a heads up to you guys that are sharpening your round head right out of the box . I saw a Video last night from a well known liked and unliked reviewer. He made a good point though how the stop pin and the choil is basically what's stops the blade slap from happening and determined how far it seats when closed So I wouldnt be getting to aggressive when sharpening.
For me I just hit mine on my leather strop with some green compound and I was good to go to make it hair popping sharp and a envelope terrorizer :D

Hmmm, slightly worrying as I sent my two out for sharpening before getting them here. Still on the way.

This isn't an issue to worry about unless you go reshaping the sharpening choil on a file or belt sander. That choil will stay right where it is because you sharpen the beard or cutting edge of the blade only, and when you do so, you actually push the edge ever so slightly (or significantly, depending on how heavy your hand is) up towards the spine and away from its proximity to the backspring when closed.

Also, there is still a kick on the tang of the blade that would hit the back spring before the edge does. No GEC, Case, Queen, etc. has a stop pin in it. The stop pin is more like an insurance policy that ensures your edge will never contact the spring, rather than a necessity to prevent it in response to some innate tendency for it to do so regularly.
