Lion Steel "Roundhead" Euro-Barlow

A question for those with more knowledge and experience but is there anything I need to do with a stag handle knife for maintenance? I have always loved the look of it but first time owning one. I also ask because while it feels great compared to any wood or synthetic handle material I have used it feels dry by comparison. This has made me wonder if I need to do any special maintenance to prevent drying out and any potential problems related to dried out stag that?

My stag version arrived today. These really are beautiful examples of traditional knives with modern upgrades. The extensive use of titanium, M390 blade steel, and excellent fit & finish make them a good value too. Thanks knifeswapper knifeswapper for bringing this together.

Some folks use mineral oil on stag and bone handles, a little once a year.

I had to grab a stag version after seeing several examples here. I knew I'd regret not getting one when they ran out.

I had a ram's horn preorder, but I really wanted a stag or a palo santo user.

Oh well, I guess that's $100 that will get me a clip point preorder... we better get a clip point preorder, anyway!

I just sent one of mine out to get a set of denim micarta scales to replace the wood. Pretty excited to see how it turns out. I also received my stag yesterday and it really nice too.

I had sharpened the one I sent out on my wicked edge and man that m390 should be about a once a year touch up based on how rugged that was to sharpen.

Reprofiling M390 takes time. But bringing it back to sharp doesn't take much time, though, after you set the angle. It likes strops. Also, when you do reprofile, diamond stones cut the time way down.

After seeing how well these were received and how much steam they picked up post release, I am expecting the clip point pre-order to fill up pretty quick.

That is, if it does come to fruition.

I'd be interested in potentially picking up a clip point. I'd like the micarta styling that Northwoods does too, ahh man!

I am sure that someone would be willing to make you a set of Burlap Micarta slabs.

One nice option with burlap and thunderstorm kevlar is that you can set th orientation of the weave to run the length/width of the handle or cross-hatch the handle diagonally.

I'd be in for a burlap micarta!

Thanks both of you just looking ahead want to be prepared to properly maintain my knife. I had read about mineral oil which I tend to rub all my knife handles with a little every time I oil a blade. I was slightly worried as some indicate it can or will discolor/darken the stag but I think that was those who soaked it.

I would like a burlap micarta too similar to what Northwoods has been using. Sign me up...surely someone is looking to make some money.

That's 3 of us, perhaps we can work out a bulk scale order? Being serious actually. I'm sure we're not the only ones.
